Subject: RE: You know you are officially a tri-dork when:christyr1978 - 2006-08-08 12:58 PM When you go through the checkout at the grocery store with a full cart of food, and someone asks you how many kids you have, and compliments you for feeding them such healthy food. You then respond with, "Um, I'm single. This is all for me..." They proceed to make comments about your size and say things like, "You can't be serious. Surely at your size you don't eat much!" Some people will just never understand the cost of combining a high metabolism with triathlon training... This has happened to my husband and I more than once, especially because we only do the "big" shopping every 3 weeks or so. When we wheel up with (often) 2 carts, the supermarket people laugh, we laugh, the person behind us in line looks horrified. Moreover, two years ago I purchased a 5-seater Honda CRV, which with darling husband, dog, and triathlon gear BAREly fits anything else. I'm going to have to get a bigger vehicle when children become part of the picture; either that, or strap them to the roof. |
