Just wanted to say hey and that I will indeed make sure I swim my 11,000 this month. With a short month, and a pool at my gym that closed yesterday, requiring me now to travel 20 minutes to swim, it will be a challenge. But I'm doin' it, baby! Let's just say for the record that though I can put a swim, it's the endurance that I need to build. Yesterday was cause for rejoice-- my first continuous 500 without stopping- only cause my trainer SHAMED me into it!! But I am so glad I did it.

So, I'm not much of a swimmer, but here I go anyway....pushing my limits and my comfort zone in '08.

Alright, we like pushing our limits. That's what the challenges are for (in addition to making training fun)

Thanks! I literally panicked when we were swimming and she said "okay, now do a 500" (how do I think I'm going to do a tri? I don't know...I guess I feel like since it's months away...I've got time) But there is no time like NOW and NOW I'm going to do me a 500 every time I get in the pool. 500 and buildng.

Do 500, then 550, then 600, etc. and before you know it you'll be a 1000.

Indeed!!! Don't make me get the whip...

I've been bad today... I think I deserve the whip

LOL... you wish I'd get that pink whip out again!  You'll just have to find it amongst all the other posts.  4300 meters is... uhh... definitely acceptable .

Another 1300 in the piggy bank.

I'm already at 32% of my goal.

Do I revise or keep trucking forward?

Got to the gym all pumped to turn the corner with my swimming and whaddya know the pool is closed until further notice! Could be a couple days or a week or more. Don't they know I'm training for a triathlon! The good news is my core/abs challenge folks will be happy as I spent an hour on that.

That is soooo frustrating!! I hope it's a quick fix and that your abs aren't too sore today .

heading to the pool tonight after work

Side note... it seems that swimming does very nice things for your arms.  Mine are scrawny I think I saw some muscles last night.. whoo hoo!

Yes it does! I've gained some nice biceps from swimming regularly - I used to have little chicken arms too.

With another two miles down this morning, I just set a new weekly high in swim distance for myself.  It's almost pathetic how much I was neglecting my swim training.  I freaking love these challenges.  I want biceps like Tracy and Chrissy.

I got up, got ready, and showed up to swim without my goggles.  I decided not to suck it up and swim without them and chose to run instead.  I will get the swim in either this evening or tomorrow morning :-

Can anyone tell me how to add the links to the logs?  I did see the thread that explains it, but I can't seem to figure it out :-(  I have a little error in my goals that I can't get ride of (a little pink box). Help, if you can :-)

I'm terrified to go wetsuit shopping.  I'd rather do it in the privacy of my own home, but I don't think that's gonna happen.

I swam 1300 last night - and (don't laugh) I finally felt comfortable swimming 50 at a time.  Hey, ya gotta start somewhere!

Great job!!!  When I first started swimming I thought I was gonna die after 25m.  I still remember my swim coach looking at me and saying "go ahead and do a 400 warm up and then we'll get started".  I stared blankly at her thinking... warm up?  Uhhh... that's my whole swim, and I'll do a slow 25 at a time, sister!

As for wetsuit shopping, if there is any way you can get to All3Sports on a WEEKDAY when they are slow, it will be a good experience for you.  Good luck!

Hey- you are describing my current swimming- but I'm determined to grow up to be like you Wink

Keep up the swimmy swimmy! I am getting in another swimmy tomorrow. Possibly Friday, too. I should try to get in 2 more this week and I have a busy weekend...

Do we still have anyone with 0% on the spreadsheet?

Side note... it seems that swimming does very nice things for your arms.

I have noticed this too, especially since a hip injury has relegated me to swimming only for the last 4+ months (but some is undoubtedly due to 11+ weeks on crutches!).

Another upside to this is my wife approves of/enjoys this side effect!

I got off to a bit of a slow start this month as I started off with a cold.  But that's cleared up now, so I should be good to go.   I'm really glad these challeneges are here - it's definitely helped keep me motivated to go to the pool.

Yeah Me

I'm currently ill with a weird bug that is giving me fatigue, some sinus headaches and swollen nodes on my neck. Only week 1 so I'm not worried yet about reaching my 12k goal.

I had to tell my clients from Korea to leave early last night so I could go home.  Slept like a rock last night and felt ok when I got up but now it's back to the usual blahs.
