Sorry I'm late--> weight @ 181, yeah I'm up, but still not too dissappointed. Been stressing over the end of the qtr, today's the last day for me... I think I'll make the dean's list again 2 A's 1 B, plus a second degree with a psychology emphasis. Also went to the university I'll be transferring to yesterday and got a lot of stuff squared away. Other news: tomorrow morning I leave for New York to do a remodeling job for my sister. Will be gone for a little over a wk. But when I get back, planning on getting back to the gym... I PROMISE!

Been MIA for a week or so but finally get back on track I was at 272.8 this morning which might have me up a pound or so.  Not a great month so far.

Ran my first tri last weekend 1:30:16 for the sprint, which is right at the goal time I had.  I was really happy with my run of 27 minutes 15 seconds, for a nice pace of 9:05 minute miles.  Not to bad for a 270 guy who was half frozen.

Howdy Cead,  Thanks for checking in and what are you going to do with a garden?  Plant flowers?

Nah, can't have flowers, bushes or any other shrubs cos I'm disastrous with plants- I kill everything mercilessly by drying or flooding it. Grass is the way to go for me.

As to my weight, well 76.2kg which means up 1.2kg even though I've been good. This is strange especially that I'm back wearing jeans size 12 Must have been the small Maltesers I got today. Also I weighed myself in the evening (as opposed to the usual morning) and it's my "girlie time". Hope that's the combination of those factors and I'm gaining weight.

So I had some INSANE water retention after my HIM hawaii.  My whole body was swolen, legs(wicked cankles), face, everything.  It went away as soon as I started exercising again.

Last weight-in: 179
This morning: 160
New Goal: 158

Anyone ever experience something like this?

Enders talks about weight gain after every race so she has some knowledge of this for sure.

So, was crazy this week, but I did weigh in.  261.2 (I think about a pound and a half over last week... gotta get focused).

In LA this week, working out with my sis - who is much more dedicated than me.  If I worked out like she did, perhaps I would have a much more fit body.

I started the week at 188.6, and ended it at 184.4.  I'm sure the lose will slow down, but I happy with this week.

Well, we made it to NY ok (in just over 12 hours)... It's been non-stop work since we got here. Tomorrow morning we start gutting the bathroom and finishhup on all the other (small) stuff, but we're still running a little behind, so we may have to stick around for an extra day or two. We're hoping to be done with the bathroom by weds, but that afternoon we have to leave early for a broadway show (Shrek), so that day is practically a waste. Oh well. Hope everyone else is doing fine?!?!?!? :P

Just wanted to say hallo from the Emerald Isle where I'm currently totally up the walls- on top of my usual work I presenting at a conference this Thursday (aaahhh!) and have to submit a chapter next week and write my report for the scholarship people- any ideas how to say "I'm all good here, nothing to worry about" in 1500-2000 words?

Now to bad news- I can't run! Keeping my training diary and my last 7 sessions were absoultely disastrous! Like for example on Saturday I couldn't do my scheduled 30mins- all I mamanegd was 25mins and even that wasn't non-stop. I thogught it might have something to do with the hills (small for runners big for me) so went running around a football pitch last night and same thing- barely did 30mins (as opposed to 40mins). I feel as if every time I go running was the first time and as if I was still smoking and eating crap 24/7. Was nearly in tears going home. Shouldn't I be imporving? I even got to think that maybe this is not for me- I'm not a great swimmer or cyclist (although a minute improvement was noted on Sat- probably due to great weather), let alone running, so maybe this sport simply isn't for me? Maybe I should do what most girls do- go to a few aerobic classes, keep up my spinning and just stay in the gym? Meeting my trainer today, but like, there isn't much he can do in all fairness. Eehhh.....

Bad day, huh?  I think that myself sometimes so don't feel like the lone ranger.  I will tell you that if you run/walk it will be easier and you will get better.  Go crazy and run 1 min and walk 2 min....Who cares as long as you feel good about it.  If you are paying a trainer he/she can set you up to succeed and if not then they need to improve themselves.

It was more like 3 weeks of bad running days and what kills me is that I know I can do better than this- not much better but still. I just don't understand. Anyway, there's gonna be 2 people crying tonight at the track- me (obviously) and Stephen (my trainer) when he realises what he's gotten himself into.

Well I am back from (another) week away on business. This trip went a little better for me (in all regards, actually) and I haev managed to lose a couple pounds. I am slowly getting back into some sort of routine but with winter well and truely upon us it is becoming a little more difficult to get outdoors and train. Anyway my results are:

Last weigh-in: 282lbs

This week: 280lbs

Hi Skinnies! I finished my first HIM Saturday in really rough conditions... whitecaps, rain, hail, lightning, wind.  Race report is here if anyone's interested http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=164418

I usually retain a lot of water after races too. I've read that when the muscle is repairing and replenishing glycogen stores it also retains water. So, I'm sure my weight will be up tomorrow.

Here's another Wednesday morning and finally some good news:
2 weeks ago: 75kg
last: 76.2kg
today: 73.1kg
loss: -3.1kg

Yay!!!! So I'm guessing last week's weight had A LOT (if not everything) to do with my "girlie times" therefore such a big change this week- still good for motivation Even if I'd look at my weight from 2 weeks ago that would still be 1.9kg loss which is pretty good. Also, I'm just after realising that I put 72/71kg as my goal for June, which means I actually have a small chance to do it (I'm at a conference from tomorrow onwards...)

As to my running session yesterday evening, it went great! So we did 3x100m in a row sprints (100m run and walk back) and my times were as follows: 18s, 19s and 20s. Stephen said it's not bad. We did about 45-50mins of session but that included 2 warm-up laps, running drills etc. So it didn't seem as daunting as it normally would- you the the idea of just running for 40mins non-stop. But most importantly I got my confidence back- well, I still think I'm slow and fat but now at least I feel that I can actually do it.

Have a good Wednesday Teammies!

Well done everyone.

Unfortunately I've not done well myself this week (10 days) due to injuries.

start = 286
week1 = 282.4
week2 = 283.0

I still would have thought that having an average 2000cal/day diet and walking for 2-3 hours every 2-3 days and 1x30min exercise bike session would have counted for something. So I'm quite surprised at that - especially since the calculators implied I would need >3300 cal a day to lose 2lb a week. Dont understand that.

Great job so far everyone (even the little gainers).

Cead,  You are the rock...Way to go on those sprints.  You can do it and it isn't about speed, but it is ALL about doing it.

Roni,  Your HIM sounded terrible,  but wow girl..Way to go.  You are awesome.
