Good Morning Turkeys!

Today was a walk day, my second on the road back to running. Felt/feeling much less heel discomfort

During the 3 months off from running I stopped doing any stretching, except what I was doing at PT. Today I got back to my whole stretching routine and boy was I stiff!

Hello Cold Turkeys!  Love that name!  I am so behind, it's already November 5th and I haven't added anything to the goal spreadsheet (I'll figure it out today).  I have never done a challenge before, so you may need to help me with the logistics.

My name is Tracy and I am a 42 year old SAHM to two boys - both in school so I should be working out more!  I just began exercising about 2 years ago, I'm a late bloomer...  I have completed four sprint tri's and am hoping I can do a half ironman this coming summer.  I do have knee issues - no ACL, second surgery was back in April for a torn meniscus.  Just recently reinjured it running with new shoes.  So, my goals will focus on swimming and getting to the gym or outside at least 5 days a week in some other capacity.  I'd love to have a running or biking goal, but with my knee right now, I should wait.  I'm looking forward to "meeting" you all!

Hey Tracy!  How old are your boys?  Glad to have ya as a teammate!  Hope that knee behaves.

Got another trainer ride done.  That one kicked my tail!  I felt like I didn't push hard enough on the first workout but this one was great!  My legs are fried!

Hello their fellow turkeys. Well today is going to be my first workout for the challenge, although I haven’t quite decided if I want to swim or run tonight… I guess I will just have to see after work.Smile

Hiya, Turkeys!  Sounds like everyone's had some good workouts the past few days.  Listening to all y'all talk about Jorge's plan, I'm glad I decided to put if off for a few weeks to try and get used to just being on the bike again.

I had a busy schedule the first half of the week but I managed to get in some biking and running.  Today I'm back to work.  I have to go to a meeting and then I'm going to try and take advantage of this fab weather and get out there for a trail run.

I just checked out the spreadsheet and it looks like everyone is doing pretty well... But, I'm seeing that many of you have already completed 25% of your goals, and we are not even through the first week of the month!... Doesn't that mean most of you need to be making your goals more difficult???

Not necessarily.  Some people have races.  Some people are taking the Thanksgiving holiday into account.

Perhaps (that's me at 25%).  But I am only going to the pool once a week.  I might increase my biking but to be honest, 8 sessions is pretty realistic for me.  12....not so much.  Maybe I'll increase it to 10.  Would that make you happy??

Like Dee said, you can always increase your goal, but I'd recommend waiting til the end of the month in case you end up needing that cushion.

It's completely up to you how hard you go on the intervals.  I go by RPE which varies depending on my energy level   If you start late, start from the beginning because the plan builds.

x2. And then I get all stressed out because I *need* to hit my goal, but there's sooooo much going on, and I get more stressed out because I'm not hitting my goal, and there's still soooo much going on and,.... Well you get the idea. It kind of just cycles around for awhile.

You mean like the PF that I'm currently dealing with? Yeah, I hear you..... I'm still trying to run slog on it, and then "wondering" why it hurts so much the next morning.

My middle name is "denial."

We should start a band.  "Buttercup and Denial" sounds like a good Indie Rock band name.

I believe D001 you said a certain amount of "ribbing" was to be expected in this... I was only messing with all of ya, you have great goals, and they are yours to set! But, I'm still glad to provoke some discussion on the subject...

But on a serious note:

I had a great "easy" run outside tonight in nice 50 degree weather and I was coming up with ideas on why running outside, even in the cold, is better than inside on the treadmill.  Here is my first reason:

#1 Snot Rockets: Perfectly ok when running outside all by myself, but for some reason it gathers very disgusted looks from other people at the gym when performed on the treadmill...hmmm...

Please feel free to add more reasons
