Another ride on the trainer today - 50 minutes of 50. Actually, I'm finding the trainer workouts to be pretty intense....much more so, than my normal rides outside. The snow started melting today and the forecast for the next couple of days says calls for 8-10 degrees C which should be enough to clear it all out. Have a great Sunday everyone.

dcon - 2010-02-07 12:03 AM The snow angel and the snow bring back memories.  I grew up outside of Buffalo and we always got our fair share of snow.  Did you move your arms (flap them like a bird) to make the angel's wings?  Hard to tell from the pic.

I did, but it wasn't captured in that particular picture. Actually, the snow was so deep and heavy that it was hard to wave your arms or legs.

I went to college in Buffalo.

They feel very hard but my heart rate doesn't get as high as outdoor.

Hey team!  Hoping to try an outdoor bike ride today.  The roads are parshly clear of ice/snow.  I may have to alter my usual bike route, but we'll see.  Its supposed to be pretty cold too, but I much perfer being a bit chilly opposed to sitting at the gym on a stationary bike.  Hope everyone gets a great work out in today.

Wow!  That's a lot of snow for you guys!  Hope you are all starting to dig out!

I rode my trainer yesterday for 2 hours yesterday.  It was a good workout.  Today, I will be going for an 8.5 mileish run.

I'll update more later.  Have a great day team!

Atlantia - 2010-02-05 8:35 AM Good morning Hearts! I got my love run in this morning, before I get buried in snow. They're predicting about 18-24" now. I'm going to be spending some quality time on the trainer for the next few days. Went to the store last night and got the essentials: frozen pizza, oreos, and beer!

Gee, your essentials are different than most; I guess you have less competition for supplies

I'm ready to hunker down for the weekend.
Different? You mean some people DON"T stock up on frozen pizza and oreos? I know *I* sure did! (Not beer though. I don't like the way it tastes.) Oh, I got chocolate chip cookies too. Ummmmm. Chocolate.

I hope you didn't forget the hot chocolate!
I never forget anything that contains chocolate! LOL Unlike beer, I *heart* chocolate.

You need to try Young's Double Chocolate Stout.  Chocolate flavored beer is yummy!

Is that a breakfast drink?

If you can drink Guiness for breakfast I don't see why you couldn't drink Young's Double Chocolate Stout.  Or maybe it can be the next big thing in recovery drinks.  Like chocolate milk only frothier!

9-mile run in the books this morning.  It was cold out there!  Only 10*F but it was a cloudless, windless morning.  It made for some dazzling moments - brillant sunlight bouncing off the snow and ice - but, man, am I ready for winter to be over!

We just did almost 2hrs of shoveling and we're not done. Cleaned off both cars, dug out both sides of mine, driver's side and all of behind Michele's; still need to do some real heavy lifting behind mine (a good 8 feet, 2 feet deep, some plowed up stuff) and the stuff between M's car and the neighbor's.

Holy moly!  That's a lot of snow!  Glad you're starting to clear it out!!

I second the recommendation for Young's Double Chocolate Stout.  I think beer as a recovery drink is an awesome idea Wink

Anyways, I got in a short tempo run this morning, and am gearing up for my bike trainer super bowl party.  Hopefully I don't drink too much too soon and will still be able to log some quality trainer time before I fill myself up with too much beer, chips, & dip!

The apartment did a terrible job plowing, I mean, did they even plow? And some of my neighbors are really thoughtless. I saw one lady brushing snow off her truck directly onto another persons car. Its taking quite awhile to dig out. Over an hour and we still haven't reached the car yet. Taking a break for some food, and then we'll begin again.

Just logged 12.5 miles on the bike!!!  It was cold outside, so cold my toes on my left foot went completely numb.  But I did it, and now that I'm inside and warmed up I feel great!  So much more accomplished than an indoor ride.

On tap this week: 3mi, 6mi, 4mi, and 12mi runs for the challenge.  3 swims, 3 bikes, and 2 core workouts for personal goals.....  Should be a good training week.

I've only ridden on the trainer 4 times now. My goal for Feb is to hit 3 or 4 40 minute rides per week at a heart rate of 115-120 bpm. If I can do that while holding my run mileage constant, then I'll crank it up a little more in March. Of course, if the weather turns in my favor, I'll take the outside over the trainer.

It has been easy to get my heart rate up higher on the trainer, but I think that is because my outside rides are not challenging enough (something to change) and I have lots of room for improvement on the bike. I've realized recently that my legs (quads) are pretty weak.

Ouch! I've got sore arms and a stiff back from my 2 hours of shoveling.

Some of you could track snow shovelling shovelling in this challenge!  I had a busy weekend.  Did NOT get in the lovin' run this weekend.  Have great plans to make it up this week.

My brother ran with the Olympic torch at the end of January and he just sent me a photo.  So cool.  I don't have a torch, but will be running today.  Don't have much else planned for the day training-wise.

I ate SO much food last night.  I even had half-time food after stuffing myself beforehand.  I had pizza, nacho dip/chips, potato chips, cookies, meatballs, salad (!), potato salad, chili, breadsticks, and I also may have eaten half a tub of gummie bears - all washed down by two glasses of Pepsi.

So, if I can roll myself off the couch, I should probably run for 18 hours just to burn off all that.

Did my lovin' run just now. Does it count as a run if it takes 30 minutes to cover almost two miles? I mean, I know I'm slow, but that's just sad. All because of the snow. When I wasn't walking through unshoveled pathways or diving into snowbanks to avoid cars, I was clocking more like my normal 12 min/mi. Six more inches forecast for tomorrow!

I can't believe you guys are going to get more snow!!!!

I got a short run done yesterday.  I had intended to go 8.5 miles but a stupid dog wouldn't let me pass.  I had stashed a water bottle in the weeds about a quarter mile past the dog.  I was going to be able to get a drink at 2.5 miles and 6 miles during the run.  I turned around and did the end of my route.  Ended up up with 4 miles.  My heart rate just wouldn't go down after the dog so I bagged a longer run someplace else.  Plus, I didn't have my water bottle!

It was beautiful yesterday, by the way!  Sunny!  Warm!  Slight breeze!  Daffodils starting to bloom amongst the bright green pastures with happy cows grazing contentedly.

G'morning team!

Sorry to hear about everyone's snow troubles!  I definitely do not envy all the shoveling you have to do Undecided

I was a little behind on my bike-LOVE challenge, but I definitely caught up during the Super Bowl!  I was on the trainer for 1h45 during the game, but I did take a snack break at halftime when I ate 2 tofurky brats w/sauerkraut & mustard, cheese & crackers, chips & salsa, and a brownie.  That's in addition to the 3 beers & glass of wine I had during the course of the game (did you guys know that beer bottles fit perfectly well on bike cages?)  I was definitely nice and tipsy by the time I got off my bike.  Luckily I was smart enough not to try out the rollers during the party Wink
