I'm bored and waiting for something to run for 2.5 hours.  There is a blood drive at the hospital, so I think I'm going to donate.  Then I can eat chocolate chip cookies!

I'm O+ so I can donate to anyone who is +.  In the US, that's about 85% of the population.  I know my daughter's, so I also know my husband's.  However, I do not know if my husband carries a recessive allele or two dominant ones.

So I had this crazy dream this morning. I had been unknowingly implanted (in my stomach) with some sort of infectious bacteria by a terrorist organization and TSA stopped me and removed the bacteria implant with a staple puller. I woke up to my cat clawing the crap out of my stomach.

rrrunner - 2012-09-05 1:45 AM A guy in TT asked about his training for an upcoming HIM.  He's on the Fink plan and was told, repeatedly, that his bike volume is low.  I know you all have mentioned that about the Fink plan so my question is once I switch to that plan how/how much should I beef up the bike?

Whatever's on the Competitive plan. If that was the one you were going to do, then add some 60-mile rides and you should be fine.

I think I was looking at the "middle" plan, don't remember what it's called.

Do the Intermediate plan then but follow the Competitive for cycling.

ok, this exchange started to get me a little nervous until the last response.  I am using Fink's Competitive plan for the cycling, but doing my own thing for the swim and run (much more then the plan).   For the last 7 weeks or so, the plan has 4- 4hr rides, 1- 3:30 ride, 1-3 hr ride and an Oly race.   If you told me that was too little cycling I think I would scream

Horsethief Canyon Trail Run

This is part of the trail for the 6.5 mile trail run I am doing September 15. The description says:

This run will take place on the Horsethief Canyon Trail. This trail is a multi-use equestrian, hiking and mountain bike trail and includes hills, rocky sections, sand, and as many as 5 shallow water crossings. There will be approximately 1/2mile of road at the start, followed by approximately 6 miles of trail. The trail length may be shorter if there are high water conditions.

Which makes me wonder -- what exactly are "high water conditions"?

We were on this trail this past weekend, and the water at this pass was nearly three feet deep. We didn't attempt it. Is it only "high water" if you have to swim to make it across????

ETA: In case you are wondering, I pulled this picture off the race site. It was taken at last year's race.

For running, I would say anything over your waist.  That sounds too high.

I did a race with a couple of those.  One was up to my waist.   I got really weird blisters from wet shoes and socks.  I would recommend vaseline or aquaphor or something on your feet.

I was hoping the pic was of you being a bad azz and forging through the 'shallow' water.  That really doesn't fit the definition of shallow water in my mind, but it still looks like a lot of fun!!

You should read what marmadaddy posted in my thread.

That was hysterical.

I am also "no IMs in my future." And I really mean it. Although the discount ($199) for Kansas 70.3 was tempting. I held back. I need at least another year. So maybe April 2014.

I'm back from blood donation.  They asked if I would donate double red cells, which means my blood gets taken out, spun, they keep the red cells, and I get the plasma.  Sounds cool!  Of course I will!  I got hooked up into a little machine with lots of tubes.  It was really interesting!

Then I had chocolate chip cookies and I didn't log them.  So there.  Because post blood-donation cookies can't possibly count towards today's calories.

It's a rule. Look it up.

Ah yes, there it is. Perfect. I guess I need to donate some blood to make up for all the outrageous eating I did this weekend. Seriously, out.of.control.
