Just trying to keep the discussion on-track (and trying to get Shelly and Tink's nomination for the "most valuable contribution to the discussion" award!). Looking forward to toasting the group!

I am looking forward to getting toasted with the group!

I can't speak for Tink (but I am guessing that she would agree) that your previous post is definitely in the running for the HCR&MCCLD post of the day award!

But the day isn't over yet!

I haven't read the thread because I didn't know when MCM was and I thought everyone was trying to get together on Halloween, which I can't do since I'll be down in Florida for this little race on my schedule.

But I might still be here on the 26th (assuming the wife still doesn't want to make the trip to FL, I'll be leaving on Tuesday is she doesn't, but we'll leave on Friday if she does) ........ if that's the case I'll get permission to go out and come down to meet and greet!

(And this thread would make COJ proud .......)

I was wondering why you weren't joining in the frivolity! Hope you can make it!

Rick, you have to be there!!!

(Yeah, I'm saying this now, but I'm not even 100% sure I'll be there.)

But, for your sake, I hope Mir joins you in Fla and you guys leave on Fri. But, if you're there, expect to be collecting lots of good vibes!

TahoeSteve - 2007-09-21 10:09 AM  Someone has to have the mature look so they can explain to the authorities the behavior issues of the group.

Don't even worry about that.  I know a guy who knows a guy.  It's taken care of.

And if Ernie's there, he'll be the aged mature guy to watch over everyone!

(Just paying hiim back for all the "push Rick into the car" comments when we run together).

Wow - go away for the day, huh? I can't leave you guys alone!

Hmm...Joe, I'll have to weigh your input with the rest of those in the running - definitely worthwhile information...I think Newleaf may have a couple that are podium worthy! (And - um - the thong would automatically disqualify you - like the Speedos, these require personal inspection by Shelly and I and um...well, nobody here - old, young or in-between alike - need apply!)

Okay - thread direction suggestion?...costumes? I'd love to hear what everybody's thinking so far...unless it's top secret (Shelly - you do not have permission to share...our secret...but that little kitty cat will be put to shame!!!)

Added names for the list it looks like - woohoo - welcome MDHillSlug & Daremo (& Thanks, Lauren for inviting!)

3558 - thanks for having your people who know some of their people covering us...I've met Steve and he's just a kid like the rest of us - thus why we love the guy!

Wurkit - well.

WE still have a month - so this is scary crazy! But, it's going to be a blast and we'll post the specific details as they're formed by all of our various Reston hosts!

Don't mention it.  My same people (actually, my people's people's people) are working on soliciting a permit from the NVRPA so that our after-dark W&OD ride would be a "sanctioned" event.  Heh.

I didn't invite you guys...but I'll take the credit .

Nah, I was just smiling at the pic of Daremo, and not to admit responsibility of inviting him. But, he's a cool guy and I would have invited him had I known the opportunity presented itself .

Just bringing it back around...

On Friday, October 26th the following BTers have shown interest in our adventure:

Shelly123
Tink
LCSolutions
Docswim24
TNT2TRI
Adidas39
3558
Rollinsw
LaurenSU02
EJC999
Rollinbones
Wurkit gurl
Nighthawk
Milaminute
Newleaf
Z
Mdhillslug
Marvarnett
Dck4shrt
JoshKaptur
Grems8544
TahoeSteve
Oceanannie
Daremo

The plan is to ride in costume - and, if possible incorporate your bike - on the W&OD starting in Reston around mile (help me out, Doc...what's the mile point where we'll be entering?) around 5:30pm.

This is a fun ride, not a training ride. Consider a bike light or a flashlight as we'll be right at the end of daylight.

Following the ride, we'll be going to at least Carrabas for a carbo-load dinner for anybody, but in particular keeping in mind the MCM participants.

For those who want to keep the fun going, we're tentatively looking at Jimmy's Old Time Tavern in Herndon.

If you are planning to be in the area and are without bike, 3558 may be able to help hook you up with that.

3558 has also suggested that a group go in together on a room at Homestead for changing - our Reston hosts are pretty full at this point, so if you don't have your arrangements, this might be something to consider.

This is open to all BTers and their significant others/friends.

The bottom line is just a good time with good people doing something a little out of the ordinary to mark our fitness fellowship and the Halloween "holiday".

RSVPs aren't necessary - feel free to let us know you're joining - but it's been so crazy in here that whomever is there and ready to go is included.

No hanky panky.

Carrabba's, the hotel, etc are right at mile 18.5 on the W&OD.

Spoken like a true male. Annnnnnnnnnnnyway.....

I'm totally in. Sounds like a perfect opportunity to get drunk, wear out my legs, and possibly crash my bike, putting me in perfect shape for the marathon on Sunday. Woot!

Oh, and I'm sorry, did I see 3558 bragging about his swimming poweress a few pages ago? AHEM?

Au contraire mon frere.  If you took the time to actually read my comment, you'd notice that I was stating that it's clear I am a lousy excuse for a swimmer.

I suggest we start at the YMCA in Reston where there is a connection to the trail and plenty of parking. From there, it is a short hike to Jimmy's.

Word.  There is a pavillion behind it where we can gather.  Plenty-o-parking in the YMCA lot, also the hotel lot.  Carrabba's are BTiches and will tow if you aren't eating there, so avoid that lot.

Since we would be starting at the Y, we could just go there afterwards, young man! There are all kinds of things we can do there! We could get a good meal. We could get clean. We could pretty much do whatever we feel, really.
