I had an amazing swim today...so amazing it was like an out of body experience or something!  Even sitting here now I don't believe that I swam like that earlier today.  Before, the longest I had swam straight freestyle was 200 before I had to stop and rest, then I could repeat that once more before I was done and couldn't do it anymore.  Today, I'm not sure what clicked or what happened but I swam 900 freestyle straight through no breaks and even at 900 I felt I could go longer but I stopped because I was so excited I wanted to get out and tell someone.  I randomly ran into my husband on the way home from the gym which never happens and I actually cried when I told him...that's how excited I was! : )  I felt like a big dork and I'm sure he thinks I'm completely crazy but when you've been trying to accomplish something for 8 months and it finally comes to you it's a great feeling.  I have many of you to thank for that too, all your tips and encouragement.  Hope I can do it again.  Now I'm super stoked for my tri in June...I want to fast forward time and do it tomorrow!!

Wow, that had to feel AMAZING! I love a smooth swim.

sjhodgson - 2011-04-05 2:58 PM Oh and my time was about 17min.  I know before it would take me 18-20min. to do 600m but that was because I had to alternate from freestyle to breaststroke which is much slower for me.  So Yay!!

****** I'M SOOOOOO HAPPY FOR YOU, GREAT JOB!!! Wink ******

McFuzzies,

I went to the circus tonight with my hubby (don't worry they didn't keep him Tongue out

We rode tonight before we went to the circus..... against the wind, in the cold, on a bunch of hills, but lived to tell the story.   Thought I would just share the experience with you incase you were sluffing off today... ok bye, bye for now - Ree

ok, i case i can't complain about the 55* I'm dealing with on my morning swim; especially since the pool water will be about 82*

To all the mcfuzzies:

I know I have not been posting lately. Busy with life, work, and of course IM training. As crazy as my days have been it's nice to have the time, health, money (it's not cheap) to compete.  I have been checking in to logs and keeping track and trying to inspire as much as I can . I can't believe that its been over 3 months of hardcore training. 31 days to go till my second IM (still can't believe it) and I haven't even had a chance to ride outside (stupid Ohio weather). But most of my goals have been accomplished. Still working on others. My goals for this last month-stick to my nutrition plan, get 2 more 6+ hour rides in, and do yoga at least once a week.

Keep working hard everyone. And thanks to those who have "inspired" me. I really appreciate those comments

McFuzz - 2011-04-05 2:47 PM Wow!  Glad the swim clicked for you!  17 minutes for 900 yards is pretty fast!

Hmm, maybe my timing skills need some help because I'm pretty sure I wasn't going very fast.  I know a 100% I did 900m but now I guess I'll just have to do it again to check the time on it. :

Whatever time it was its GREAT that you broke on thru to the other side (so to speak) Congrats!

I'm a little lost at the moment as to how to train and for what. I have a sprint tri coming up and I could work on getting my 5k time down doing some speed work or I was thinking of trying to switch my registration for this sprint to the olympic race happening the same day... decisions decisions. I cant tell if the bike course is a really hard one or medium hard (its definitely pretty hilly) and if I have enough time to get ready (I'm talking june 11). I've never done a race longer then a sprint. Decisions decisions. In other news... tomorrow I'm doing a training session on a contraption called "AlterG" its like a treadmill but you are suspended in a kind of harness and you run at 50-75% less your body weight, should be interesting...

I read yesterday that Kara Goucher trains on an AlterG.  What's the benefit of running at less than your body weight?

Ooh, if you can do the distances without going over 10% or so of an increase to reach those distances you should do the olympic.  I'm doing my first olympic this year too, only ever done sprints.

Also, clarification on my breakthrough swim...I was so excited I guess I forgot how to tell time : )  I timed again today and did 900m in 23min not 17.  I don't use a watch, I just go by what time i get in and out of the pool.  So the other day when I got 17 I guess I thought I got in the pool 5 min. later than I actually did.  Regardless, still pretty excited but definitely not as fast as I thought : )

23 minutes for 900 yards is still good!  Works out to about 2:30/100 which is still fast for those of us who never swam competitively.

We're "archived" but as long as people keep posting, it'll be easy to find.

I agree - if it's not too big of a jump in distance and your training is where it should be (looks like it is from your logs), I think you should go for the Olympic.

Wanted to share my latest breakthrough. Ran for 2 hours (10 miles) today! Didn't feel great, but next time it will be easier. With this run, even if I get sick I should be set for the 1/2 marathon on May 1. yeah!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! I unfortunately will be grouting tile in the kitchen

Hello McFuzzies,

I'm having a bad week at work so anything is on the side, since Monday I'm working 12 - 14 hours/day, yesterday I was off and did a little run/bike  at the gym, hope that everything gets in place and I can have my normal 9 - 5 schedule back.

Very nice to hear that all are getting their goals and training going.

Have a Nice Weekend
