axteraa - 2012-09-15 7:35 AM Is anyone racing this weekend?  I'm going to do a small Du this morning (1k/20k/5k) that is about 15 mins from my house.  The course is dead flat, straight out and back for the bike, very fast course.  The winds are forecast to be 25-30 km/hr crosswinds and there are sections of it that are completely exposed, should be fun!

Race done!  There were only about 25 people racing, I finished 3rd OA behind two kids (ages ~16 or 17) who are competing to be part of our Canada Games team and probably ran in the 17-18 min range.  I was first off the bike and they ran me down.

I pushed things on the bike a bit just to see how it would go.  AP was 255w, speed 37.8.  I was over 260 and I'm sure speed was 38 something until the last bit when I was taking my feet out of my shoes and had to make a 90 degree turn right before the dismount line.

Was hurting on the run but still ran just over 23 mins which is a decent run for me.

Lots of fun!

Nice going, speedy Axenhots!!!

I forgot to mention that my overall time was 1:00:19.  Ugh, surely I could have found 20 seconds somewhere....

Nice job! You could have easily found 20 seconds in transition, did you wear socks?

Completely pointless if you ask me! But as an aside, great job Arend!.

I should have saved myself the $20 and slept in.

Ditch the lawn chair in transition.

Hey now, I'm not a total newbie, it was a bucket not a lawn chair!  And yes I wore socks, I had my run socks and then switched to my bike socks and then back to the run socks....    Wink

Anyone riding tubeless tires?

I am going with them for my new bike (for training).

Ultegra with Hutchinson Fusion tubeless.

What are the advantages of them?  I've never really read or heard anything about them.

Do they have online tracking of the race or just results at the end?

Thanks for the feedback on the pics guys.  I'll get a couple of good ones on the trainer and we can see what can be done about my position.

Haven't signed up for Quassy yet.  Ongoing "discussions" taking place...Sealed

First swim since the accident three weeks ago!  Felt so good to be back in the water.  Knocked out 1,000 on cruise mode.

Thanks everyone for the concern and support!  We're all miles apart and have a friendship because of a lifestyle.  If only the whole world could be so lucky!

Need some quick advice. Have the last race next weekend, a HIM. Not in quite as good shape as the season opener at oceanside, but not bad. Not really following a plan. Question is how far to run tomorrow. I have 2 ten milers in the last three weeks but that is as long as I've gone. Have a few 6s and 7s. It's gonna be hot. Sooooooooo..... Try to get another 10 or 11 miler in? Or go 6ish and start taper?

One week out I would probably prefer a 6 or 7miler at or a bit faster than race pace but I think this is very much personal preference rather than "this is better"

I would say whatever you recover best from and whatever will help build confidence.

Fred I dont run tubless tires. I have friend that do and they like them. These guys are retired racer. The selection is getting better from what Ive heard. Here in Savageman transition. Smoke on the water and will be a cool start. No race tracking just results.
