Trying to decide how I should do my long run tomorrow:

a) 3 loops of the same path (6 miles each)

b) 3 loops of different length (10.4, 1.5, 6)

Either way I end up going on lots of the same roads, although option b gives me a lot different section. With option a it will be easy to stop at the car to get more water, food, etc.

I'm just scared about whimping out and scared of this run in general. I'm not sure which way stopping early is more likely.

Well its weighing up the nutrition versus the temptation to stop at the car... can you run 10.4 without needing to stop for water etc?

That's pushing the limits of what I carry with me.  I ran out Wednesday after 9, so I'd have to drink less, which is probably not a good plan.

And, I think that once I get started on the last lap, I will be able to finish it.  I really could have kept going after 9 the other day, so I don't think finishing 12 will be too bad.

It helps that I keep talking about it because I know everyone is expecting me to do it now.

Well, I need to head to bed.  Feel free to post opinions.  I'll check them in the morning.  And I hope everyone checks up on me to make sure I actually finish.

Jen,

When I run long I try to make loops of different lengths.  Even though it's the same roads you see them in different time frames and it breaks the monotony.  No place you could stash some cold water or Nuun on the run?  I'm leaving a water bottle in the paper slot of my mailbox so I can grab it as I need it.

I did the 3 loop option.  The middle loop was the worst.  Next time, I go for the different size loop option.

What's important is that I survived.  But, now I need a cheeseburger and a nap.

WHOO WHOO! Way to get it done....I'm waiting until after Iowa mightily slays Pitt before I head out for my (much shorter) run. Atleast this weekend it is pleasantly cool.

I'm tired.  Which isn't good since I still have floors to clean, laundry to fnish and was hoping for a recovery swim.  I think my "swim" will be in the tub with jets on to get my legs loosened up.

Hi Nibbs - I SHOULD be sleeping... but my room seems to either face north or east so by 8am not only was it HOT it was also bright in ther even with the blonds closed.....

Its gonna be a LONG, HOT summer here from the looks of it... checked the weather report and the warm weather is meant to break during the week before getting hot again for the weekend...

The positive is.... if I get hot weather without the storms... I get to go swimming on the weekend! Hooray!

We had a window that faced south east, so it was always hot.  I made curtains that were two layers thick and they worked well to keep the light out.  The heat was always a problem, but it seemed to stay cooler with the curtain.s

Now our window faces west, so it's not so much of a problem.

My jetted tub scares me-who knows what is growing in the unseen recesses. I always cycle it with a bleach solution before taking a bath. It takes forever (20 minutes?)to fill full enough to use the jets.

I would much prefer a regular tub.

I periodically fill mine 1/2 way with hot water and dump bleach in it, letting it jet away and splash water all over but clean the jets and tub better.  I agree, the thought of nasty gunk growing in there is enough to make a tummy curdle.
