QueenZipp - 2008-09-20 6:05 PM I'm tired. Which isn't good since I still have floors to clean, laundry to fnish and was hoping for a recovery swim. I think my "swim" will be in the tub with jets on to get my legs loosened up.

That sounds like an awesome recovery swim. I wish I had a hot tub or something for that.

Come on over sometime, I'll let you use my tub

My jetted tub scares me-who knows what is growing in the unseen recesses. I always cycle it with a bleach solution before taking a bath. It takes forever (20 minutes?)to fill full enough to use the jets.

I would much prefer a regular tub.

Eh...I've realized the more I work with bacteria and stuff, the less worried I am about getting random infections from things like that.   Bodies are pretty good of taking care of small amounts of most things.

I don't mind the invisible stuff as much as the little green and black flecks popping out of the jets.  bleck.

Morning, Nibbs!

This morning, we went to church and then out to Indian for lunch (yum!)...now getting some Sunday-around-the-house junk done and heading to the pool for a quick swim.

On deck for tomorrow - quick little couple mile run in the morning, bike ride w/ co-worker, and then WORK WORK WORK WORK WORK.

Guess who needs to get some work done this week?

Yes, I did.  First time ever in the middle of a ride.  Tested my ability to change the tire.  I was on the right track, but wound up calling for help and going to the shop cause it looked too big for the rim.  Guys at the shop gave me some tips and I asked them to let me do it under supervision since I know that it's a skill I really need to have down.  Picked up more tubes and a book on bike maintenance & repair.

Well, considering it's the first time I ever had one mid ride and I put an average of 200 miles/month on since April (with over 300 in August) it was bound to happen.  Thing is, I almost left home without my cell phone cause it needed to be charged. I would have been sunk if I hadn't waited for it.  John was doing sound at church today and had to stay for both services so he wasn't home when I left the house.  My kids didn't know which way I was riding.  I was also lucky in that the area it happened was one of the few spots on that loop with a halfway decent shoulder to pull off onto.  Just past an intersection with a small business on the corner so I could wait in the lot.

Be sure to practice with the rear wheel, too. I thought I was all hunky-dory cuz I could change the front tire. Then I flatted on the road on the rear tire and discovered that was a whole different animal. Thank God for the sweetie in the orange Honda Element who came to my rescue! I can now change the rear, but have yet to do it without getting completely covered in grease.

Hello Nibbs.  I'm back from the Atlanta 2-Day and it was great.  Got over 14 hours in on the bike.  Next year I'm going to hang a sign on the back of the bike T.I.T.S. and let them all guess what it stands for.  As the guys like to say over the weekend, it is the one weekend a year that they can say "Boobs" out loud in front of a bunch of women and not get in trouble.  LOL

This was my weekend for flats.  Haven't had a flat on this bike in 5 years and on Saturday I got three of them.  All on the rear tire.  Had not problem getting the tire off the bike, but getting the tire off the rim is another matter.  Luckily there were some really helpful guys around.

At the end of the day after the third flat, I did take the bike down to the bike shop and got them to fix and check it all out.  So, today I did not get a single flat.  Yeah!

If I get multiples, I will have lots of practice changing tires.  BUT, I only have enough room in the seat pack for one spare tube so flatting more than once on a ride would really suck. I have 3 spares right now, one in the seat pack and 2 more in my bike shoebox out in the garage.
