regarding real-time tracking during the event, has anyone looked into using the free cell phone tracking services online? This one looks good:
http://www.instamapper.com/

In looking at it, the only thing I couldn't figure out is how to start/stop the tracking, but that's probably controlled by the app you download onto your phone.

But there are a bunch of other sites that offer it too.

I was thinking about using this during the bike and run (obviously not planning to swim with my phone), but just realized my blackberry doesn't have GPS on it. Frown

So I dropped off my bike yesterday at the LBS for the last pre-race tune up. Looks like I'm getting a new chain, bottom bracket overhaul, and new crank bolts and whatever else. Not a bad way to spend another 100$.

I'll be arriving in PCB on Wednesday late evening, have we set any times for a group swim on Thurs/Fri or any other group pre race workouts? maybe a short ride?

Anyone had any problems checking their nutrition on airlines?  I can't just buy the gu when i get there because i use EFS and they probably won't have it there.  I was planning on checking a bag with nutrition, but wanted to see what you guys have done.

Also, I'm pretty sure you can't check CO2's....Is that correct? I can just buy those so i'm not worried, but just wanted to check.

No to CO2s in checked bags or carry ons. Buy there and donate to local triathletes or folks that drive.

No problem checking nutrition. If you carry it on, needs to fit in quart bag. I check mine.

Not supposed to bring cell phones with you in an IM race.

Of all the things I'm starting to question - I'm questioning my swim training.  Swimming is my strength and for months have been able to do 4000 m in 1:10-1:15 but I'm starting to freak out because my swim training hasn't been ideal for the last couple of months (first back troubles, then this cold).

Are there mile markers posted on the run?  I didn't see this in the athlete guide.  I'm just trying to figure out if I need to wear my garmin on the run or not.  Thank you!

Can anything else go wrong? Really? I finally started running again on Sunday after being off since 10/8.
I have a history of dislocating my pinkie toe. During final IM weeks I always wear shoes in the house. I ad my shoes off for 30 seconds. Kicked a 12 pack of Dr. Pepper that was outside the back door and dislocated my toe. I really can't believe this.

I sent an email too but I just wanted to make sure that my shirt (gravesjo) my parents (Julia Page) and my grandfather (Bernard Hartweg) shirts could be sent to Jen (jldicarlo) and we could pick them up there as we'll be flying down this weekend.  Ahh!  I haven't even started packing.

Hopes thats ok Jen :-)

Just wanted to drop in and wish you guys all good luck!!! IMFL was my first ever Ironman and although it kicked my butt, it developed a passion for the sport.  I just finished IMWI this year and I am having some post race envy of you guys.  Wish I could be out there racing with ya!

Good Luck, Race Hard, And Have A Blast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, send shirts to my house.  Just be sure to PM me to give me your cell number and get my cell number so we can hook up for a shirt transfer.  Real names would be nice too.   And how many shirts you are expecting to show up at my door!

Catwoman, sorry about the toe.  Wow, that's REALLY weird...I mean, do you just kick things a lot?  I will admit that as I was navigating the rubble that is my bedroom floor in the middle of last night when I got up to pee I definitely took extra care...just sayin'.

No Mike Riley?  I am a bit sad.  I don't remember him calling my name last time and was really looking forward to it.  Geez, these dates come up a year in advance, you'd think he'd put them on his calendar and short of a funeral or other family emergency he could be there...

And, finally...someone has turned on the dang heater and humidifier here in Florida this week.  Be very very glad the weather should not be like this for IMFL day!  Last night the low was 75, tomorrow night it will be back to the 40's thank goodness!  In the 10 day on intellicast right now we have a high of 75 and a low of 52 the day before the race.  Sounds perfect to me!

Did you read my ride report?  I highly recommend the first 12 miles or so...at least until the big bridge.
