enders_shadow - 2008-09-21 8:12 PM Watch out, Judi - rumor has it (and it happened to me) that flats come in multiples...of course, one of my four flats (in two months) was due to stupid user error, but the other three were random. Hi Nibbs, and bye Nibbs! (Drive-by Nibbin-ing!)

If I get multiples, I will have lots of practice changing tires.  BUT, I only have enough room in the seat pack for one spare tube so flatting more than once on a ride would really suck. I have 3 spares right now, one in the seat pack and 2 more in my bike shoebox out in the garage.

Oh, we're talking about multiples tonight?

Yeah, OK, I should probably go to bed.  I'm a little fried...

he he! Hi Mila!

Melissa's most padded post of the day: My current data compiled for my parents guardianship review.  (it is in the horny melon thread).

I am sure everyone enjoys looking at lots of numbers.  I decided to share anyway.

I had no idea the Emmys were on tonight.  I was watching the Alton Brown show and my husband's been playing video games.  I'm sure I'm not missing much, although I do like to see all the dresses.

No, they haven't even gone into the washer yet. I'm still working on the kid's clothes.  What are you doing up this time of night?

A touch of insomnia. Just trying to get back into balance. Strangely enough have a bit more energy at night, too. Not so much stuff going on as daytime, perhaps.

Be sure to practice with the rear wheel, too. I thought I was all hunky-dory cuz I could change the front tire. Then I flatted on the road on the rear tire and discovered that was a whole different animal. Thank God for the sweetie in the orange Honda Element who came to my rescue! I can now change the rear, but have yet to do it without getting completely covered in grease.

Agreed - at least I learned what my rear derailleur was IN MY GARAGE, holding my bike manual...instead of out on the road. So far all of my flats have allowed me to change them in my garage - slow leaks or discovered at home...and I know I could do the front on the road, but to do the back again, that'd be a trick. (I could probably do it, but it would take me 45 minutes and I'd also be covered head to toe in grease.)

Hey, Judi - did you take your tire to Performance?

If so, they're probably wondering what's up with the two crazy ladies that came in this weekend...since I brought mine in Saturday.

Killing time before I go on a ride with my co-worker. A little chilly this morning...I need to buy some more long-sleeve jerseys.

Yes, I did.  He really was nice.  I told him I wanted to do it w/ supervision and he let me have at it with some pointers.  Kinda made me mad that I had to drive all the way up there to fix the darn tire, but glad for the tips.

I've worked with the rear wheel before with a friend when John over inflated my tires before a ride last year...and the rear one popped on my way to meet her.  She wound up doing most of it cause I wasn't getting the action of the wrist right.  Game plan for the winter training is learning how to change the tires by repeatedly doing it.  Have to read the bilke repair book I bought and learn a few other things too since I really want to do a century next season.

Good morning Nibbs.

We had a great weekend for the 2-Day.  The weather was just perfect.  Cloudy and overcast most of the time, light breeze to keep you cool.  It was just peachy.

After being in the bike for almost 15 hours between Sat & Sun, I then went home and played tennis for my team (and won).  Needless to say, I did not cook dinner last night.  We went out to Macaronni Grill.  I just love their bread.

Hope everyone else had a great weekend.

Morning Nibbs!

Any advice on how to help a 12 year old adjust to a new school?  C is really having a tough time - this morning was awful.

The best thing I can think of is getting him to join as many extracuricular activities as he can.  Then it might be easier to find a group of friends who are interested in the same things he is interested in.  I think it is always hard at first, but making that first friend will help him go a long way to fitting in.

And I know this goes without saying, but you being there to talk and spend time with him each evening and weekend until he does build those friendships.  Are there any programs he can join at the local YMCA or community center?

Also, can talking to his siblings help?  They both had to go through a bit of this when they went off to college.  Not quite the same, but close.
