292 , Massachusetts | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success - CLOSED Originally posted by trisuppo Dave, congrats on the AG win! Well it turns out there were only 3 in my AG so that was a little deflating. I'm more psyched about finishing 9th overall, but after reviewing my splits I really choked on the swim. I was almost 20 seconds/100m off my recent swim splits, one of which was an Oly ocean swim, and this was a lake swim in warm water with a wetsuit. It was largely a navigational issue, as I had a really hard time focusing on sighting and staying close to the buoys. In the heat of the race I didn't think it was a huge deal, but in hindsight I found myself out in the middle of nowhere a couple times, and I think I wasted a lot of time getting back on course. Definitely something to work on! |

Definitely something to work on! One of the toughest things to do is open water sighting. I am navigationally challenged and swim in a nice zig zag pattern in open water. Don't beat yourself up too much. You still had a good race and won you AG and came in 9th. Well done. |

Expert 1109 Guatemala | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success - CLOSED Originally posted by markz Thank you guys for your kind comments! RR is coming up. Would I do it again...? Probably too early to say, but the girl who damaged her knee wanted to do it in 24hrs and it didn't happen this time. She will probably ask us to form a team next year and try again. She knows now that we can do it. Now, how do you say no to a girl who wants your company for 24hrs? How about two of them??? Gabe, great picture, happy faces, happy colours, thanks for sharing! Great to hear that you are open to doing it again next year! It is funny because for the Marathon Des Sables my wife's requests were "No women on your team" and to make sure that my life insurance is up to date. However, this is a 7 day event, so it is a little different. Great job again Mark and looking forward to reading your race report!

Veteran 1900 Southampton, Ontario | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success - CLOSED 35min on the Tribike then a quick 10min trail run. Trying to keep the intensity up on both efforts, 30km/h on the bike despite a head wind and a 5min/km pace on the run. This is where I need to be and where I have been in the past. My training thus far has been reasonably consistent but has lacked the fire that it needs. To race fast I need to train fast - at least part of the time. Signed up for Xterra Sleeping Giant today. I elected to run the short course as I dont feel my running is at the point to be able to really run the 17km trail run of the long course. Jim 22 26:37:43 |

Master 3022 | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success - CLOSED I've got to crack down this month. Started strong on Saturday with 70 miles and some good climbing. Rode with a local tri coach and his team. Good for confidence as I was the only one hanging with the coach. Planned to cycle yesterday but made homemade pizza sauce with goodies from the garden and homemade pizzas for the family instead. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/#activity/851373154 Jim 1 1:01:27 Dave 1 0:31 Dennis 2 4:30:00 Mitch 1 3:42 |

Expert 2811 | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success - CLOSED early evening run 1:09:57. I always find August interesting. I see it as the month when the rubber meets the road. For me it is the final build up for my September Half. I respect those who keep up with the challenge, even though their primary event may have been completed. Or for Mitch, whose season is over because of injury to stick with the events he can do, with his eye on next year. It sucked riding with the tri team on Saturday, everyone from coach on down was gearing up for a race and were inquiring what race I was doing. I try to stay focused on the long game and the fact that I can keep building a bigger engine. Wife and I are going to sign up for yoga soon. Know the increased strength and flexibility should make a difference and help me stay healthier as I inch up in age. |

Expert 1109 Guatemala | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success - CLOSED Dave L, sorry to see your Cervelo go, but you probably made someone happy with it! I had been tired and taking time off after the Challenge Roth, but over the weekend got family (wife :-) clearance to race Ironman Arizona in November. So time to get motivated again and start getting my butt back into training. Adding 1hr drainer on Sunday, 3000m swim yesterday and 90 min drainer today Jim 2 2:11:24 |
