Finished 2:30 on the CT. 48.78 miles. The long hills at the end were a pain. I was doing 20.33 for the first hour.  Glad tomorrow is a rest day.

GrapeJuice - 2011-01-29 4:49 AM Great videos posted! Very motivating. Just to give everyone a sense of how far I have to go with my swimming here is the video from my 1st and only Tri in July. Its the last lap of the swim(did all 800m with the technique in the vid lol) and my transition to the bike. Enjoy the comedy!

Thanks for sharing this....I did that exact stroke for my first super sprint (200y) the year I started .  What's the scoop with the woman in high heels at the end of the pool?  was she your timer? or your personal cheering section?

LOL she was the timer, wish she was my cheering section though Smile

DougRob - 2011-01-28 4:59 PM OK more swim talk.

After yesterday's 2525 yds of dwimming I had 2200 on tap today. The set was WU: 4 x 100, 4 x 50 catch up drills, 4 x 50 kick, MS: 6 x 100 with 2 sets of 3 decending, 12 x50 (with 25 hard and 25 easy), THEN 100 for time and 100 CD.

Needless to say after 4525 yds in the past 30 hours that 100 for time was NOT a record. It was somewhere btwn 1:30 and 1:35. It HURT! I could not get my googles off quick and focus so i am not sure of the exact time.

All my swims for january are done. 1 run, about 65 miles of biking and one strength session to go. I might try to get an hour of yoga in too.

Hey Doug what is the 2 set of 3 descending. Not sure just what you mean. Sounds like it would be a good workout though.

2 sets of 3 decending means: each "set" is a 3 x 100. You do that twice with no break between 100's. The descending means that each 100 in the set is done faster than the last, e.g., easy, moderate then hard.

I am off line for then next few hours as I am about to do 2.5 hours on the computrainer riding through Calgary!

Did you ride the Calgary 70.3 course? How did you find it?

Grape Juice that was the best 5 minutes I've spend in front of my computer in a while. Awesome commentary in T1. No one can over acuse you of not being deliberate.
Love the fact that there was a dog dipping his head into the pool as you were swimming.
Didnt that guy in T1 realize you were being filmed. CMON MAN, get out of the shot!!!
And hey, has you buddy who was filming done a tri yet? You'll have to turn the camera on him!

Trevor:

Calgary Canamore came with my CT software. Yes it is the 70.3 course, but the distance is 59.15. I hope to get to the end the next time I have a 3 hour session.

When I was done I went to do the food shopping so my wife could watch the Australian Open Finals she taped. When I got outside I could have kicked myself it was SOOOOO Awesome outside. Why was I on a trainer? My daughter and I proceeded to wash the cars.

after reading all you posts on the flu it finally got here. I was able to swim yesterday then that was it I was out for the count couldn't even think about my long run or bike this weekend. I was really looking forward my long run because that would have marked my longest run ever. So debating on doing that run on Monday or Tuesday to get it in or just waiting for next Saturday to do my scheduled 13miler.

Getting sick really screws with your training schedule.

That is the offical bike distance for the race. Where the lake is located, they couldnt keep to the offical 56 miles distance. Kind of sucks as you want to have an 'official' distance on it, but its a very scenic course.

OH tell me about it!  I was getting a little excited to get back into training after being a lazy a$$ for a month.

So, in a sense, I'm kind of "starting" over. Am I mad about it? No not really because I've come so far since last year in January/Feb Swim - avg was 2:40ish, Bike - avg - 13-14mph, Run - 14:00. So, yeah..I was happy when I started my first week to find that not much has changed the since the last few training weeks.....THEN....

THE DAMN FLU! *#$@*$!  It started on Wednesday. I was feeling very uncomfortable, every joint in my body HURT (and I thought it's from starting up training again),  very tired, and just under the weather. Decided to skip my run. The next day, I wasn't feeling better, I was feeling worse. Friday, eh, neck pain was really bad, and I tried to do a light jog, and it hurt. Started to have hot flashes at night. Everything hurt. I went to class, and my sign language interpreter (I'm deaf for those who don't know me), who is a mother, pretty much said to me, "You have the flu".   I had no idea.    In fact, this wasn't the first time that I felt like this, and usually they only last for a day. And here I am, proclaiming to the world that I have never gotten the flu. It seems like I had a bit of a mild form, but just lasting a bit of a long time because I didn't do much of anything to treat it (honestly, I thought I was hurting from starting training again and feeling tired because I was just under the weather...that happens sometimes...once in a while).

Today is Sunday, and finally I feel 98% better.  My neck is still hurting, but everything else is fine. Will do Run/Swim tomorrow!

So I know exactly how you feel how being sick puts a damper on your plans.  My "A" race isn't until the Fall, so I have PLENTY of time to get back on track...I hope. *crossing fingers*

Hope everyone is doing good and everyone is done with the flu! :-P

Tony - VERY cute puppy!! :-)

Suzy - and other doggie owners-  I got a Doggy DNA test for my dog, Stardust.  I was getting sick of people asking me what breed she was and frankly, I'm curious.

The results has come in - 50% Chihuahua, 25% Shetland Sheepdog, and 25% Mutt (too mixed to really determine). HOW cool is that?!

Here's a pic.
