Great race, way to start the season off right congrats!

Houstonrider - 2010-03-01 10:31 AM Frost Yer Fanny Unofficial Race Report. (I'm waiting to see the official results posted on-line. This is from memory)

1st run (3 mile) 7 m 3 sec
T1 1:10
Bike (15 miles) 21.1 mph
T2 0:50
2nd run (3 mile) 8 m 50 sec

1st run was a flat out and back, and I ran with out a watch and just ran according to feel, and I felt great. I have no idea where this run was hiding.

T1 was solid, my sunglasses had some sweat on them and I needed to take a few seconds to clean.

Bike was a 3 loop course (each loop had about 10 turns) with a lot of tight turns. There were several crashes. I rode between 22-24 but lost a lot of speed in the corners and tried not to use two much energy getting back up to speed. Just tried to be steady and consistent and spin rather than mash. Over all pleased with the 21.1 mph and felt relaxed coming off the bike.

T2 was quick for me. Came off the bike with out my shoes and hit the ground running. Put my run shoes on and was off.

2nd Run - Coming off the bike I always have a tough transition. I'm hoping this will improve when I get a tri specific bike (Using a Fuji Road bike now). Legs started to loosen up after the 1st mile, but by the time I felt I had my legs back the run was over.

Over all I was very pleased with the results. Even my second run beat lasts years best split for a Sprint distance tri.

It was also great having Ken there (First time we raced together), and his family cheering us on.

Congrats on the race as well and way to push through it!

Training this week for me would be just putting in the miles. Just go out and run, no care of pace... For nutrition you shouldn't need much different than your normal training runs that are 4-7mi long. Personally I wouldn't eat anything while running, sip on water/gatorade as needed and in between runs eat some pasta if available.

I KENOTT swim - 2010-03-01 7:20 AM

I could use some advice for this crazy relay I am signed up for this coming weekend.

I am running 4 legs over a 33 hour period for a total of 24 miles.  I will run 4-6.8 miles in each leg and I will be getting naps at best, not real sleep  (Sleeping on a gym floor or in a van).

What training would you do this week? (Our team is not racing hard so I am running 9 min / miles throughout - I don't need speed I just need endorance)

What nutrition advice would you have? (the only training comparison I have to this is my century ride on the bike)  I have not attempted to train this many hours within a 2-day span before.

My Feb numbers were much better on the bike which was the goal but still nowhere near what they'll be come May-Nov...
February's totals:
Bike:253 Mi
Run:63.48 Mi
Swim:16700 Yd

January's totals:
Bike:116.6 Mi
Run:72.25 Mi
Swim:22500 Yd

Next 2 months are going to be rough for me to get the miles in but I'll do what I can when I can. Nearly every weekend from now until after the honeymoon ends (5/1) is booked. I hope everyone understands I'll be MIA here/there but will do my best to support the group...

I missed my 10k TT this weekend due to a late night out which was fun I'm going to get out there and get it done today though...

Don't deflect fatty towards me!!!!!!!!!! I think the only way we'll have a chance of hanging with Fatty is if we get a relay team together.

Michael Phelps can do the swim, I'll take the bike and you can run..... but even then it will be too close to call.

And who are you kidding.... you run sub 7 just for fun.

Trin2bfast - 2010-03-01 10:41 AM

Justin ~ That is a very impressive effort!  Fatty doesn't stand a chance... except for maybe the swim!  HA! *stirring the pot font - deflecting fatty's desire to beat me towards you!*

I know you have the bike, but WOW, that run was awesome... I would have been hard pressed to hang with ya!  Once again great job.

Ken - good job as well! A little adversity in there and you still finished strong.  Keep training smart & it will all come together!

Happy Rainy Monday in these parts!

Man, you are really slacking in the swim... I am very disappointed in this drop!  If you were a 'real' MG leader you'd be crushin' 30K a month! Slacker!  LMAO!   *note the sarcasm font*

That's fine. You're catchable in the water, as long as you're okay with that happening.

Did my 10K during lunch today new PR by 1:41, 39:20 (19:26, 19:54). Damn heat slowed me down, sorry to complain to all of you buried in snow

Not too hot just hotter than recently and I'm looking for an excuse for me dying at the end rather than my lack of fitness, geez!

I have some good news and bad news. The bad news, the official race results are in and the RD stated that our group's start time were off by four minutes so the results display an earlier start time which affected my 1st run time by 4 minutes. He said this will be corrected and it affected everybody in my group equally so the placing is accurate. (I still ran a 7m3s pace)

The good news..... I finished 3rd not 5th. whoooo hoooo.
