Jen and I braved 50 degree weather and water for OWS clinic.  I think the challenge organizer should give us the yardage as race yardage cause we froze our keesters off!  The Starbucks run post swim was fun but I had to stop at the store for milk on the way home and using the ladies room at the store was not so fun with removing sweats and a bathingsuit...

Haha...I wish.  I feel bad for the people who are regularly still training in the cold.  Ugh!!

The OWS clinic was really helpful, but it was so cold in the water.  I think I'm finally starting to get warm.  I really want some more tea or coffee....

One more reminder to update your spreadsheet totals by the end of the day.

If you can't get it updated, let me know and I'll get your totals in before I do the update.

Morning swim.  Took it slow while trying to modify stroke to increase speed w/o expending too much (more) engergy.  This will take some work.

Enjoyed IMAZ yesterday and the 70.3 on Saturday!

Hey guys, Sorry I haven't logged any workouts since Wed. but the knee has been swollen and in pain. But today its feeling better than normal so I am probably going to get in at least a small workout. and try to do an Arms and Abs, and swimming. Hoping to get my bike minutes done before the inevitable surgery (with workmans comp on the job it should happen somewhere around December haha ) hey I may even sit my butt down on the spin bike for 10 minutes on super light resistance (at least its something) but other than that the 70.3 in florida was so awesome. sitting there watching it all I could think about was I can't wait till my knee is better so that I can race one of those.

Got a nice run in at lunch today--issues with the HRM so no real data but I was out for 50 minutes so I approximate 5 miles.

Swim tomorrow!

I had a great weekend..bike race clinic doing all sorts of crazy drills on grassing trying to bump into other folks from side and behind to learn what to do. Best was Bike Gladiator 4 women in a 30-40 foot circle trying to knock each other out of the circle and stay upright..really it was great.

Rode my trainer at my kids soccer game much to the amusement of many..great multitasking I say. Today my longest run ever 14.25...did 14 last month so I ran the long way around last block to make it longer.

Rock on Atoms!

Hey Susan, I'd like to do an HIM or two next year as well.  I need to get a few Olys under my belt this year first.  Atomic Man in East TN (Knoxville area) is the closest HIM for me, in Sept of next year.  I might could find one in May or June of next year as well.  Maybe in the following year, in 2010, I could hear the words, "{My Name}, you are an Ironman!"  Maybe just once.

Awesome run, Kathy!!!!

My numbers are at 40%, 43%, another 43% and 56% w/an average of 46% so far. Am held hostage by a hotel room for a few days, but they have a decent workout room here.

Go Atoms!

Did a little run, little swim today - my shoulder is sore from this weekend (I assume from trying to keep my bike upright during my windy duathlon)...but doesn't seem to be a lasting problem.

Good work Atoms (and dare I say GO REDWINGS!...or am I going to get items thrown at me? )

Great Job to everyone.

Well I have to do something because otherwise I would go nuts with boredom. Also the doctor said if I go into surgery with stronger muscles there will be a shorter recovery time. I only ride the trainer with little to no resistance and pretty slow. I am getting better but after about 15 to 20 minutes it starts to hurt and thats when I stop. Plus I set a goal and I am going to achieve that darn goal!

Oh no a double post!!!! but seriously a question for all (well those who have aerobars) just wondering for those who have them. what style are they (j, s, etc.) and how do you like them. I have a beautiful road bike that i would like to get a set of clip ons for and before I make the big investment I was wondering what your guys' opinions of them are.

I have a tri bike, but when I rode a road bike and used clip on kind I had these.

http://www.profile-design.com/products/aerobars/split-second/

My bike fit guy likes them best as the they are highly adjustable so you can have the distance apart vary as well as how long the bars are. Many clip ons aren't adjustable at all or very little.

I found clip ons worked well but I had to tweak my fit as the reach changes.

Keep doing those easy trainer ride if it is pain free....

Kristen - Hey, I didn't think the Preds would win one at all, but I'll take it!  Okay, Detroit in 5.

Kathy - Good info on the aero bars!  I too have a road bike w/no aero bars.  Hmmm, maybe it's the fact that I just have a road bike and no tri bike!  That'll justify a new P3C!!  (Ummm, not yet.)

Rest day today.  Yum.  Not bad while on the road.

I got props from my swim coach today so I'm really happy.  Brief history: when I started with him 10/06 I looked like I was flailing in the water.  Head up, no stroke--not much above a dog paddle.  We fought forever to get a passable stroke.  I spent a year doing 2 hr practices 2x/week to get somewhere.  Last spring he started focusing on my stroke count and I thought he was crazy to try and get me even to a consistent 20...today I averaged 17-18 strokes/length!

Short run today too-tapering madness cause I love getting the run on!

Good news, I finally got a new tire for my bike (my last one all of the little white fibers were coming out of the side wall and there was a large flat spot) and a new tube so now I can use my indoor trainer instead of a spin bike. its not out on a ride but better than a spin bike. Its to late to ride today (I have a fan trainer no a liquid or magnetic one so its really loud) but tomorrow morning I am going to do my 20 minutes easy on it (hope my knee feels up to it)
