There's nothing from enginerd on the bike, and I have no idea if that's because the tracking sucks or something's gone wrong! |

Master 1728 portland, or | Subject: RE: Vineman Full Ironman : Official Thread I have access to the timing. This is from about 30 minutes ago. I got caught up doing some of that nasty work stuff before I could post. I'm doing this quick, so it's not going to be a pretty spreadsheet. swim, bike, and run are hours and minutes. T1 and T2 are minutes and seconds. The run has three timing sections, but nobody had finished at the time I last checked. Bib number - swim / T1 / Bike / T2 - Run 1 / run 2 / run 3 103 - 1:34 / 5:52 212 - 1:12 / 4:12 272 - 1:20 / 7:53 / 7:01 / 6:35 - 1:30 410 - 1:13 / 11:06 / 6:42 / 6:17 - 1:37 239 - 1:34 / 11:19 / 7:51 / 8:05 323 - 1:20 / 5:36 / 5:43 / 5:47 - 1:23 / 1:40 277 - 1:11 / 2:26 / 6:10 / 3:03 - 1:21 / 1:32 I'm not sure that I'll get a chance to update again. scott |

It's actually working fine for me now. I was having trouble earlier with it searching forever, or telling me there were no results, but it's all good now. Do you happen to know the distance for each run split? I'm worried about Enginerd, since there's no bike split for him. |

New user 163 | Subject: RE: Vineman Full Ironman : Official Thread 11:59:40 overall (beat my soft goal of sub 12, by just a hair!) 107/683 overall place. 31/114 in M35-39 Very Happy! Bike was 5:43:45, so I hammered on the bike. Swim sucked, and run sucked worse, but I did it. First IM. Race report at some other point. Pizza to eat at this time! |

Ventura, CA | Subject: RE: Vineman Full Ironman : Official Thread Yay! I did it!!!! in 11:55 Ok, the marine layer was nice, the water was warm, it got a little windy on the second bike loop... but this is one hilly race. Especially the run is no joke... There were quite a few crashes on the bike too, the roads are REALLY bumpy... and I'm afraid I might have seen Enginerd/Donato with some NASTY road rash and his arm in a sling. That sucks...! I hope he's ok... |

Regular 99 TwinCities, MN | Subject: RE: Vineman Full Ironman : Official Thread I agree that was a pretty tough course. The bike course was tough and rough in some spots. The run was tough too. I thought it was tougher than IMLOU which is the only other full course I can compare it to. |

Master 1588 San Francisco | Subject: RE: Vineman Full Ironman : Official Thread hi everyone. was able to meet up with quite a few BTers - ellismichael, baowolf, christianrope, equilibrium which was great (albeit in that awkward I know you online, but we're meeting for the first time AFK/IRL and we all have our own thing to do). as for me, i had a crash on the bike somewhere around 10-15 miles. I was passing someone who was passing someone (so we were 3 wide). I hit the center line, which unfortunately actually had a deep narrow groove in it (it was inbetween the two stripes of the double yellow). I got caught in it and as I tried to navigate back (still in aero, 20+ mph) I went down and into the person I was passing. We got tangled up bad. I was scraped up and some major shoulder pain on my right side so it was mostly immobile. Race was done for me (she was able to continue on). I saw 6 or 7 other people go down (two of which also called it quits, but none as bad off as me) and a lot get caught and recover on the same groove (it was pretty long) too as i was waiting for help to show. Took an ambulance to the emergency room. Fortunately, xrays were negative for broken clavicle and AC separation so it's just a contusion and some bruised ribs and road rash. Big bummer and had high hopes for a big PR, but for a high speed crash with someone else, I consider myself lucky. i got to see poweredbyfear finish his first IM, so I was able to experience the race vicariously through him and I'm glad to hear about all the other finishers. Looking forward to the RRs! |

Expert 822 | Subject: RE: Vineman Full Ironman : Official Thread I finished! It was after 11pm so not sure if I'll get a time or not. Forgot to check my watch but pretty sure it was under 17 hours. Had stomach problems starting about mile 80 on the bike. Fought nausea and cramping the rest of the way but kept going. Just barely made the 9pm run cutoff and knew I wasn't going to make 11pm but wanted to finish. Sore, tired, but not injured. It was great meeting everyone and thanks to everyone for your suppot, including those just following this thread. |

Member 7 | Subject: RE: Vineman Full Ironman : Official Thread It was a great race and I enjoyed myself. This was my first race and I can't imagine better conditions. Thanks for the advice on the course. I did get a little nervous when my chain slipped on the descent on that first hill around mile 27, but I managed to maintain control. |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Vineman Full Ironman : Official Thread 12:16 here in first IM. I was able to stay steady on the swim bike and run with no walking and the calves held. Sorry about that crash. I was actually there waiting for the ambulance to get to you, but it did not register to me at the time that it was you. Perhapse they will at least throw some patch on that strip of road as it claimed so many. It was great meeting folks. |

Regular 84 Colorado | Subject: RE: Vineman Full Ironman : Official Thread The Vineman aquabike was to be my first full aquabike, in prep for perhaps doing the full Vineman next year. I had a great swim (1:03) and was cruising along on the first portion of the bike, when I came upon the bike crash. I came down one little hill and just started up the next when I realized the bikes in the road were stopped, and the USAT motorcycle was PARKED right in the middle of the lane. I attempted to pass on the left versus hit the motorcycle and my tire got caught in the same crack in the road that took down so many others. A fellow behind me also crashed. We picked ourselves up and assessed the damages. After regrouping for about 15-minutes and checking in with the ambulance personnel, I decided to try to ride. I straightened my handlebars, tightened my seat (good thing I brought that allen wrench set in my seat bag), and tried to recenter my rear tire. I biked about 50 feet up the hill, but my rear wheel wouldn't spin. Race over. Just then ANOTHER person crashed in the same spot. In other races (all in Colorado) I have always noticed that the road hazards were spray painted, clearly marked, and mentioned at the prerace meeting. Regardless, I suppose my first crash was bound to happen at some point - the irony of it happening while trying to avoid the safety motorcycle is hard to swallow. The road rash is healing, and today I am taking my bike to the shop to assess the damages. I am relieved to read that no one was seriously injured. We all got lucky that there weren't any cars coming toward us. I am starting to think about a "re-do" race. I've been training for this in one way or another since November 2008. Does anyone know of other full aquabikes in 2009? I see the RedMan is full. Waiting until 2010 seems so long. Kim |

Extreme Veteran 573 Sherman Oaks, CA | Subject: RE: Vineman Full Ironman : Official Thread i haven't done my RR yet (just returned from a few extra days up north, yesterday) but i finished! I am an IRONMAN! 16:05 was my official time, came in at about 10 til 11 or so and made the cutoff. Had stomach problems the moment the bike started and did ok until the run, when I walked a whole lot. blah. Great race day tho overall - had a good time, would definitely do this race again and even after 16+ hours out on the race course, yes, I would do another IM. I may do the Vineman relay next year and do the swim portion w my brother on the bike and hubby on the run. We'll see...
