Rusty Ironman - 2009-08-26 7:16 AM Then quit wimpering....the race director didn't want to put old slower women and men out there late in heat of day. He said next year its the 30s turn to go last....

That makes no sense at all = if he didn't want to put old slower women and men out there late in the heat of the day why do the 50 and up start at 8:42 - over an hour after the start of the race????  That is exactly what is going to happen.

If he wanted the fastest AG's to start last, I would think that the men would have gone toward the end- not the women.  If you notice the fastest male AG's start right after the pros.

The same wave sequence was used at New Orleans 70.3- I'm curious to see what athletes thought of it who did that race.

crambo - 2009-08-25 8:29 PM This video is for you Rusty
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzB06fwxQ0c

I think this video is stupid and offensive. I don't know about you but there seems to be a lot of "cyclists" here in Augusta who think that they can just hammer the bike at 24 or 25mh and totally smoke the bike course. To them I say, "Wow you just blew by me on the bike...wow! you are excellent cyclists! You go!..... see you on the run"

T

Whatever, lol....that included a 1:28 run. Look, not trying to gloat, just too many of the 40 yo's complaining say that they are going to hurt someone on the bike....Not a fact. My swim and run used to be as good as the bike, but that was in times past. Why don't u old farts like me just accept the fact your starting near the end waves.

That reply wasn't meant for you....I was simply stating that it doesn't matter where someone starts, if they race as a "cyclist" (the way most people in Augusta will race from observing the group rides on the weekends) then they will totally be suffering on the run and for those of us (and I include you in this group) who race this as "triathletes" we will should do fine on the 13.1 off the bike and make up for any time the "cyclists" might have gained from hammering it on the bike.

I wish everyone would just quit complaining. If it's not the bike course and all the drafting or the transition area or the start times or the fact that the run is in a "shady" area or the Kricket Krap farm stinks....

This is what I have been trying to say! Agree...guess I just a smart alec, stirring up the 40 yo testerone pot. lol.....just having fun with them lol.  Its just for fun and staying in shape anyway.

Very true my friend

I'm really just disappointed I don't start behind the 35-39 and 40-44 AG women, then my bike time and run time would be same as theres.  Other than that I really don't care where I start, Im just happy to be present and accounted for.

I think everything will work out fine. I start in the last few waves and I don't think it will really matter. From reading through the various threads, it seems like the RD has done a great job, being that he is starting from scratch. Many things like the bike course etc. seem to have less to do with him and more to do with the various municipalities. I am confident that everything will be taken care of and changes made if warranted.

How is that for the glass is half full post....

Sorry to interrupt the comedy session, but just another mention of 18 mph ride of the Augusta course Saturday morning if anyone wants to join. Meeting at the pavilion at 7:30 am with a possible 7:00 am swim. Some of us may do a 6mile t-run after as well but real easy.

The more the merrier. PM if you want details. I promise there will be no transgender athletes there but you will have to take my word for it. We can't afford all of those experts.

I am wanting to do the swim @ 7:00 AM then ride afterwards.  After the swim I was going to ride the course at my own pace with no stops.

ok, just to make sure we are ready to ride at 7:30, do you reckon 7am is a good swim start time, or should we shoot a bit earlier. so meet for the swim at 630 at the pavilion, then hustle up to the start point for 7am start the latest? and try to go closer to 650? what do you guys think.

also, pm me contact number for you so if things get hairy we have a way to touch base.
thanks

Can anyone post some pics of swim area, transition, etc. Just curious. I doubt I will be able to make it over there before race weekend. I have looked at on google but just doesn't quite give you the feel for it.

I would say in the water no later than 6:50 if you wanted to start riding at 7:30.  I can be at the boat house around 6:40 and we could head up to the swim start.  Any earlier than that is pushing it for my lazy butt.

Jon and I plan to meet ya'll for the swim but won't be riding.  We have to run 5 miles instead.

Troy- Jennifer wants to ride the course non-stop so I let her know when you'll be riding.  She plans to be there for the swim as well.
