dewcubs - 2009-10-23 8:27 AM Umm..ok, I am in but what does that mean???  Anyone can answer this that has done it before.  I am going to get a note from Jorge?  I am new to tri's this year and I have a Garmin305 with cadence monitor and a HR monitor.  Do I need a Power Meter?  Would it help that much?

Feel free to PM me as I monitor this site everyday, , at work...shhhhhh.  I REALLY want to do this but I am somewhat anal about being prepared.  I want to know what I need and have it ready 3 days before hand....

The answers to your questions can already be found in this thread.

See Jorge's original post on Page 1 & update on the top of Page 9 for all the info.   As for what it means to be in, that one is answered in the middle of page 8.

TrkHilo2k - 2009-10-20 9:35 PM One more for the group, doing it the HR/RPE way.

Now, can anyone point me towards something like this for RUNNING?
I need that too.

Thx in advance!

Definitely best discussed in another thread, because that's a big subject.  I'll simply say that while you can hammer yourself into fitness on the bike with little risk of injury, the same prescription would make you faster on the run but will almost certainly result in a running injury.  As the results of those who have done Jorge's program last year demonstrate, you can make big improvements on 3-4 rides a week.  In running, however, there is no shortcut to mileage.

I'm in the midst of a run-focused plan while I start Jorge's program (I believe he said he was as well a few pages back).  What that means for me is that I'll be doing his 3 prescribed rides per week but running 8 or more times per week.  My 3 rides are killer... most of my 8 runs feel like nothing they are done at such an easy pace... but I'll be logging between 40 and 60 miles running.

Josh: thx.  I hear you loud and clear (well, not so clear but I get the juice of it).  Your run-focused plan is from BT?
Feel free to PM me so we don't clog this bike thread with running stuff.  Thx.

I am in....i don't have a trainer yet so I will be starting this one outside.  I will be in the HRM group.  I always thought cycling was my strongest out of the 3 sports until I actually raced this year! UGH!  Turns out swimming was my strongest.

I got some really good improvement last winter with your plan. I will follow it again this winter.

Thank you a lot Jorge for doing this!

Man am I ever IN. I've gone from Ironman to lazy blob all in a matter of 90 days. I have to get back in the game.

Now if you'll excuse me.... the Chinese food delivery kid just pulled up the driveway....

Adding my name to the list, going to swap out my bike workouts on my regular plan for these.  Will be doing HR/RPE for the time being unless I stumble on power somehow around the holidays.

I'm definately in for HR/RPE  I'll most likely be starting late though (as I don't have my bike here yet).  Just curious what kind of average MPH gains people saw from last year?

Are there any other 3rd shifters out there doing this plan?  My hours change again this weekend, so I will be on a Sunday to Thursday night schedule.  I will still swim in the am after work and then plan on riding in the afternoon when I wake up.  I am not to concerned with running for a few months.  I will still do a few miles after the pool, but that is just because.

How are the rest of you splitting up the sessions?
