I AM PI$$ED!!!!!!!I have a perfect hill for hill repeats; it's 1 mile away so I get a perfect 10 minute warm up then it's a 1-4% incline that takes me 2 minutes to climb - EXACTLY what the plan calls for. EXCEPT NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO SHOVEL/APPLY ICE MELT!!!!! The US luge team should come on buy and use it for training!!!! Did I mention I'm NOT HAPPY!?it's probably for the best - my a$$ is peculiarly sore from yesterday's drainer ride.... but still I'm mad, where's my cheese?!

Erica... thoughts and prayers for your dad!!!

OK... time to start some training this year... I was talked out of a 45 minute run yesterday and played racquetball instead.  Not happening today.  Doing a lunchtime spin class.  Then some running tomorrow... Let's get this party started!

Did another roller ride today. Trying to decide if tomorrow or Thursday will be the morning I suck it up and run in the cold AND wind.

crimefighter2 - 2010-01-04 3:43 PM My lunch hour workout....
Mile 1 - 8:27
Mile 2 - 8:11
Mile 3 - 7:56
Half mile recovery - 5:05
qtr mile cool down - 3:17.
Incline at 1.0 during run, 2.0 during recovery and cool down.

I was hoping for a four mile run, but the machines shuts you off at 30.  I was kinda tuckered/winded anyway.  How am I going to do a half marathon in 16 weeks?  Will update sheet later after I do PT and maybe Ab Ripper X.  I slept too late this a.m. to get it done.  It was also 2 degrees here and 16 below windchill I think.  I'd rather have the snow.

Oh - don't we need a captain(s) yet?

Is that the kind of pace you're hoping to hold for the half mary? You probably need to back off on the pace until you get your endurance/distance up.

In my dreams!  Mainly, hoping to finish without walking.  Secondary goal is a consistent 9 MM.  I can only currently run on the mill during lunch, and am limited in time, so I am running this pace.  The only training program I've ever tried/followed was Couch to 5K.  (good program, btw)  I've looked at the one by FIRST but it has abbr. on there I am not sure what they mean.  and more running than I have time for right now.

Morning all! I have a session with my BBB group this morning.  I think we are using the TRX system again.  Those things can be crazy hard.  After that I need to get in a run...gonna use my new fleece tights to stay warm.  Then I pick up RICO!!!  my new used car.  My daughters have named him Rico Suave.  Here is a link to the video in case you have forgotten how bad the 90s really were...Rico Suave.  I'll post a pic later.  Have a good day!!!

I used a 3 day a week plan last year for my first half mary.  Two runs a week were only 4-5 miles with a long run on the weekend.  I'll try to find the link.  I know a lot of folks use plans from runners world.  There is a make your own plan on there that lets you put in your # of days to run, # of weeks to train and a few other parameters and then creates a program.  It seems pretty good.

RedSox-sure you don't want to go for 100 instead of 75?  Just kidding!  Sorry they moved your cheese.

Do people really run out of gas anymore? I'm in a mood - I had a strength training session planned for yesterday afternoon during Elder Monkey's piano lesson at the Y. But her #@$@#%@ piano teacher ran out of gas on the way to the Y so her lesson got cancelled (along with my weights). GRRRRRR.

Good thing I aimed low on that goal, huh?

I love PB.

I love cheese.

I've considered putting PB on cheese - would that be bad form or just poor taste?

Today's Tased and Confused contest:  What kind of car is Rico Suave?

Urban  dictionary definition is:

Rico Suave is basically a man who is for all intended purposes the following: Good Looking, muscular, "macho"-being totally cool toward everyone and everything, very clean and neat in appearance, a man who is 100% man: almost every lady is attracted to him because of his great charismatic ability, and when need be, he can be a real bad guy to mess with"

guesses? suggestions?

Got my trainer ride done.  I sure could tell that I hadn't ridden in a few weeks.  Way harder than it should have been.

My dad is out of surgery and recovering.  Waiting for the pathology report to see what's next.  Love the waiting game.   Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!

Congrats, Erica... hopefully the first in a string of good news!!!!

Did a killer spin class at lunch.  I think the instructor got up on the wrong side of the bed or broke some of his new years resolutions because he ran us ragged!  Probably 40% of the ride was out of the saddle pumping as hard as I could... it was as if Dee was chasing me with a tazer.  But a great workout to start off the year.  No looking back now.  For you peanut butter lovers... and cheese lovers... I stole one of my kid's string cheese sticks this morning and brought it to work for an afternoon snack.  I AM NOW DIPPING THE STRING CHEESE IN THE PEANUT BUTTER!!!  Does it get any better than this?!?!?

I had pretzels dipped in peanut butter for lunch today.  I keep the little tubs of Jiff in my desk for days I don't have time to pack something (which is usually a pbj sandwich.)  I have a serious peanut butter problem.  Haven't tried with with string cheese...hmmm.

Decided I'd run for 30 minutes over lunch - easy pace to see how far I'd get. Wanted to do 4 miles, didn't make it.
Mile 1 - 9:04
Mile 2 - 8:56
Mile 3 - 8:48

.37 - 3:10 (machine times out)

.45 - 5:01 (cool down)
total - 3.82

then jumped on an exercise bike - did a quick mile, popped back on the 'mill for another half mile (4:26).  810 calorie burn.  good times.

One more pt session tonight and I'm done for the day.  winter storm supposed to be coming in....

Oh my.  I miss a day or so and I see we are now the Tased and Confused using Carole Ann to stay warm.....

We weren't just using Carol Ann. We were burning her. Unfortunately, she melted into a blob, then bubbled and started smoking.

Since she's Carol Ann though, I expect her to make a full recovery by next week. She said she might stop by again then.
