Master 1792 | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread mchally - 2010-05-06 11:08 AM So yesterday was my 29th Birthday (the first, but I expect to have a few more in the coming years. ) It was awesome...especially in the food department. I went out for brunch with my best friend to my favorite crepe restaurant. I was debating between a savory crepe and a sweet crepe...he told me to order both and I ate every bite...absolutely delicious. I swung by a natural food store and treated myself to some maple glazed cake donuts...they are gluten free, dairy free...taste pretty good but are expensive. DISCLAIMER TO NON MEAT EATERS...EXPLICIT STEAK DESCRIPTION, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK! Yesterday evening my Boy Friend took me out to Daniels Broiler. You can't find a better steak house plus the view was awesome. We shared an appetizer of Dungeness crab legs and had some great house salads. We were debating the same steak options so we each ordered one and split them. It is great to find someone who likes their meat cooked the same way (medium rare). Daniel's starts by sending all the steaks through an 1800 degree broiler to lock in all the juices and flavors. It is then cooked over a mesquite grill. (I didn't say that quite right, but you get the idea) The rib-eye was very flavorful...it didn't have excessive marbling, just enough to saturate it with flavor. It presented itself very well too. The other steak was a bone-in 20-some oz New York prime. It was absolutely amazing. Incredibly flavorful, the outside was slightly charred and the center had a smooth satiny feel and practically melted in your mouth. I think that having the bone in added to the flavor as well. We saved the last bit for my mom and sister and dropped it off when we were done...they were ecstatic and loved it. The dog didn't mind that I let it nibble on the bone a bit...it was thin enough that I didn't let her go to town on it though. Although I couldn't have any, the french bread smelled absolutely divine. It had the most appetizing crackle when handled. Jonathan guiltily told me that the flavor delicious beyond description and it just melted in your mouth. Desert consisted of a chocolate cake(somewhat brownie-like) with a molten center served a la mode. I had a lovely tropical sorbet. that's about it...did I make anyone hungry? That sounds like the perfect day of FOOD! Yum! And, happy birthday! |

Champion 14677 | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread Hey all. I am a tad behind on goals. Yesterday started at 4am and ended at 11pm. I am making up by doing a brick today and a double tomorrow. I need to work off work and family frustration anyway! Thank Goodness it is Friday, another work day and there would be blood shed. Although this weekend's family dynamics will make Monday look good as well. |

In addition to the Mother's Day hoopla, we have a graduation that will involve a lot of interaction with Steve's ex-wife and her family. It will be an orgy of dysfunction. And I am missing a really good bike ride to attend this. |

Expert 1163 | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread owl_girl - 2010-05-06 11:40 AM My friend went through surgery just fine. He will be in the hospital for a couple more days. His daughter is in town for at least a couple weeks to help him. My week continued to be crappy though. Yesterday afternoon, baby swallowed a plastic sticker and was coughing pretty bad before he managed to completely swallow it. I gave him lots of water and called the doctor. They said to take him to the ER if he does anything unusual. Nothing so far so I guess he'll just poop it out now. Then, last night, a moron was subbing for the usual childcare person at the gym. She was completely incapable of caring for her own two kids, twin girls, and another girl. The twins kept going over to my baby and knocking him down. (He just started walking.) She wasn't doing anything! Ugh! The gal working the front desk took care of him while I was teaching class. I ended up having a couple of margaritas last night!!! You definitely deserve those maragaritas with the kind of week you've been having!! Hang in there!!! |

Start training for the hardware now!I'm actually NOT looking forward to aging up... at least around where I live, 30-34 is the most competitive age group! I wish I could age down because there are hardly any 20-24 year olds doing tris so it's much easier to place |

Expert 1163 | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread Happy Friday Ladies! I got a good, long trainer ride in yesterday, and I think I'm pretty much on track for my goals so far. Still "recovering" from my marathon so no running just yet. I might go for a short run tomorrow morning, but I'm also definitely planning a swim sometime this weekend, and a bike ride. |

I was kind of wondering about the logistics of hauling my bike over there and quietly disappearing at some point... |

I am still waiting for the weather to warm up so I can get back on my bike. I just can't bring myself to go to spin class these days, plus I've been substitute teaching quite a bit, and that takes a big chunk out of my normal 'schedule'. |
