I keep forgetting to log my weight until after the noon deadline. Not that I have anything to show for it. Still 199.2 with 10.2 pounds to go by 12/31. okay Paul, lets try this- post 2 things you will do differently tomorrow sometime tonight if you can. Let us know how it goes tomorrow night.Tomorrow, or maybe I should say today, is going to be a tough day. I'm working from home and there are too many goodies lying about at the moment. My two goals for the day. 1-No junk food, only nutritious snacks. 2-I will also get in my exercise goals for the day, which include a swim workout, running, and push ups and sit ups. Sounds good Paul. What will your healthy snacks be? |

Elite 3471 Evergreen, CO | Subject: RE: Challenge: Weight Loss During the Holiday Season How did I miss this challenge?! Any way I can still get in? I set my goal at the beginning of the month and haven't made much progress, but I'm logging my food and am determined to stay under 2000 cals/day and stick with the training program. I think I started the month @ 145, am at 144 now and my goal is to hit 135 by xmas. Like a lot of you, I'm also doing the Crappy Winter Weather Challenge, winter cycling program and the You'll Log Challenge -- this seems like a good complement to them -- no more excuses! Heckling (and inspiring) welcome |

Expert 1580 Ankeny, Iowa | Subject: RE: Challenge: Weight Loss During the Holiday Season Drank 1.5L of water yesterday. This morning rings are tight. Scale is back up to 149.8 Headache is gone. Will continue to drink and hopefully the scale will go down. I religiously tracked my food yesterday so I know I didn't over indulge. Stacie |

New user 31 Wisconsin | Subject: RE: Challenge: Weight Loss During the Holiday Season dimplespoo - 2010-11-15 11:05 AM Down to 148.2 - just not sure it will stay. I figured I was dehydrated last night so I drank before bed and it was still down to 148.2 this morning. Got .5L in already this morning, working on the second and tracking food. Will see what happens tomorrow. If I get down to 148 and stay I will have lost 3 lbs so far. Hubby is traveling this week and I got premade salads at the store for lunch - they are chicken, lettuce, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds and a sesame dressing - all for about 300 calories. So we will see how things go - also motivation is the 1/2 mary on sunday - I really want to hydrate and eat right before that. Then after on Sunday I can cheat if I want. Not sure it will really help but I am telling myself it will. Stacie Great job and good luck on Sunday! Debbie |

Master 2146 East Side of the Bay | Subject: RE: Challenge: Weight Loss During the Holiday Season tonight my daughter wanted take out from Chili's which is just a couple blocks from my office. I went on line to check the menu and clicked on the nutritional information. OMG! There were VERY few options less than 1000 calories. We don't have menus with calories required here but what an eye opener it is. |

Master 1623 | Subject: RE: Challenge: Weight Loss During the Holiday Season Intros... good idea!! I'm Emma. Currently finishing up my last year of college and getting ready to embark on the next big adventure of my life which would include grad school, moving in with my boyfriend of 5+ years, hopefully getting engaged, and of course more triathlons. Just completed my first triathlon in May and now i'm hooked. I was never the athletic one growing up. Horseback riding was my thing and I took lessons for many years. Parents nagged and nagged at me to exercise but my stubborn self hated (and still does) being told what to do so I didn't. Horses and riding were my escape when things got crazy or bad things happened (like my grandpa's death) and the horses I rode and the hours of riding still hold a very special place in my heart. Unfortunately college meant I had to give up riding which I struggled with for a while. I decided last December to prove to myself and everyone around me I could complete a triathlon and now I'm hoping to eventually do an Ironman one day. Triathlon training is becoming what horseback riding was to me. Running has become amazing stress relief for me. I'm currently working on building up my endurance in all 3 sports so that next year I can complete an Olympic tri or quite possibly a HIM. College brought late night study sessions with unhealthy food not to mention the crappy dining hall food and therefore I ended up gaining some weight which i would love to lose before I graduate. Ultimately I'd like to get back down to 125 by May. |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: Challenge: Weight Loss During the Holiday Season wgraves7582 - 2010-11-16 4:54 PM How about we do some introductions and history about ourselves. I will start I am Bill and have been on BT for almost 3 years now. I have only done 1 triathlon - an XTerra but have completed other types of races including a marathon, ultra-marathon, and attempted a race called TransIowa where you have about 32 hours to ride your bike 320 miles or so through rural Iowa farm country on gravel roads. When I first started training, I was not "fat" just overly heavy. I weighted almost 215 pounds back when I first started my marathon training in 2007 and after I completed it in 2008 I was at 185. I have fluctuated right around that number since then. My high being 190 or so and my low being 173 after doing an 1800 mile bike tour this summer. My reasoning to hit low 170's is to make me faster overall so I am not carrying so much extra weight come next race season. My goal for next year is to get my run back on and still luv riding my bike! I can't picture anything taking the space reserved in your heart for riding your bike. |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: Challenge: Weight Loss During the Holiday Season Having to go in to the office and the resulting work preempted my swim and run. I tried doing push ups and sit ups at my desk and now have a raw spot on my behind from a seam on my jeans. No more sit ups in jeans. The silver lining of going in to work is I didn't pack any food because I didn't think I would be that long so no snacks this afternoon, just the few I had this morning. |

My reasoning to hit low 170's is to make me faster overall so I am not carrying so much extra weight come next race season. My goal for next year is to get my run back on and still luv riding my bike! Good idea Bill! My name is Melissa and I have been on BT since the end of May or start of June, when I started training for my first triathlon. I've always thought that triathlon was bad @$$ but didn't know there were shorter versions and just assumed that only pros did that kind of stuff. It's not publicized here like runs, plus my group of friends/family aren't into any of it so I didn't know what was available. One day I was reading a magazine I got at the outdoor show and saw a listing "try-a-try". I looked on the internet later that day and decided to tri! Up until last September I was relatively inactive, more of a weekend warrior for whatever suited my fancy that week. I started P90X because I felt like a poser in my field (health and fitness - kinesiologist) and needed to become regularly active. I maintained this until I went to China in April-May, when my activity level skyrocketed because I walked and took stairs constantly. When I came back I realized I was now able to run a bit thanks to my stair training helping boost my endurance. This is how it all fell together! I'm really happy about it and love the endurance improvements I have seen in my body. It's become lifestyle rather than obligatory exercise. I should say, running has become lifestyle (if you've seen my logs) and cycling will soon because my spinner arrives tonight. Swimming and I are still negotiating. My goals now are to maintain training, get faster, go further, improve my swim technique (eventually), and get a healthier body composition. I need to lose some inches in the abdominal area and wouldn't mind losing a little hip/butt/boob. So far I'm not doing well with the weight loss and think I need an extension. Maybe a follow up New Years Weight Loss Challenge? |

I don't know what it is about it that summoned me, but I like it! My history with exercise... I was a 6 year competitive bowler (your horse back riding was MUCH more active), and stopped physical education class after grade 8. I got a C- in that phys ed class, now I am qualified to teach it! Funny how things work out. |
