Thanks!

I'm at 7:59 wave start. This is kinda weird, most of the swim waves are 3 minutes apart, but between mine and the one before, it is 6 minutes. Wonder why.

Thanks for showing that the wave times are up.

BTW, anyone know which pro's are going to be there?  Just curious who is going to be kicking our butts that day.

I've been pondering the waves and am glad to see it posted. So here's my next silly question - it's against my nature to buy a finisher's shirt before I actually finish. It looks like the Ironman Store closes at 3:00 PM on Sunday. I'll be hard pressed to finish much before that, much less have the wherewithal to go shopping! Do I just close my eyes and buy the stuff on Saturday and pretend I didn't on Sunday? As you can tell, I'm REALLY into the minutia now! ;-)

buy it! i bought all my stuff for imwi and imfl before i raced. im not superstitious though.

plus if you buy it then you HAVE to finish... and im sure you'll have no problem doing that.

my vote: buy it

Absolutely buy before Sunday!  Think about it- you get your shirt from the event when you pick up your packet which is before the race so... go for it!

Hello All,

I was glad to run into this website becasue this is my first half Ironman and this is great support for a first timer. I am sure that I will ahve many questions during the next few weeks. I have been training extremely hard and I know that all of the pain and sacrafice now will pay off in the end.

This is a great event for first time 1/2 ironman folks. You'll enjoy the route (although it is quite bumpy) and there's tons of support on the run from the residents. Good luck to you!

Thanks for posting the wave list. Looks like I'm off at 8:14. Nothing like kicking back for an hour before you can get started!

And bumping the question about which pros will be there.

That was me last year.  It was a long wait for sure, don't get to deep in your own thoughts!  Don't forget to bring some water/fuel down with you since there is nothing at the swim start.  Just think of it as a really nice long warm upCool

I don't even see my name on the wave start list.  Will they update it for the folks who registered late?

For pro's Crowie has been there the past couple of years, says he loves the course so I would expect him back this year? Paul Ambrose won last year so maybe he will defend his title? I think my coach Blake Becker (local pro) has committed. Don't know of any other names but the race usually attracts a few good names. I wouldn't expect the like of Macca, Lieto, or any other big Kona racers to be there.

Thanks for posting the start wave list.  Looks like they moved the waves around a bit, since last year.  Can't wait to race in a few weeks!

Last year I was one of the first waves to go (M25-29).  Kind of disheartening when you don't pass anyone all day and keep getting passed by faster people.  I least this year we have the older folks in front of me so MAYBE I'll be able to pass a couple people on the bike.  OR I'll just feel even worse about myself when I don't.

Also, Anton84, I am extremely jealous of your picture with Crowie.

i agree, starting in the first waves has the advantage of not swimming through people on the swim, but its a long lonley bike ride with no one in front of you except the people that are flying by.

starting in a later wave though, there are a lot of rabbits to chase...

In case anyone is curious, Accuweather has race day forecasted to be sunny and mid-70's!

....of course that is bound to change every day between now and then!
