I'm back from blood donation.  They asked if I would donate double red cells, which means my blood gets taken out, spun, they keep the red cells, and I get the plasma.  Sounds cool!  Of course I will!  I got hooked up into a little machine with lots of tubes.  It was really interesting!

Then I had chocolate chip cookies and I didn't log them.  So there.  Because post blood-donation cookies can't possibly count towards today's calories.

It's a rule. Look it up.

::looks it up::

Ah yes, there it is. Perfect. I guess I need to donate some blood to make up for all the outrageous eating I did this weekend. Seriously, out.of.control.

You could do a brutal bike ride like I did to work it off.

Did anyone happen to see the news about the Red Bull Heir allegedly hitting a police officer with his car and dragging him: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/sep/04/red-bull-heir-hit-run-thailand?newsfeed=true

It's a shame because I think Red Bull is a fascinating company. Red Bull Stratos anyone? http://www.redbullstratos.com/

rrrunner - 2012-09-05 1:45 AM A guy in TT asked about his training for an upcoming HIM.  He's on the Fink plan and was told, repeatedly, that his bike volume is low.  I know you all have mentioned that about the Fink plan so my question is once I switch to that plan how/how much should I beef up the bike?

Whatever's on the Competitive plan. If that was the one you were going to do, then add some 60-mile rides and you should be fine.

I think I was looking at the "middle" plan, don't remember what it's called.

Do the Intermediate plan then but follow the Competitive for cycling.

ok, this exchange started to get me a little nervous until the last response.  I am using Fink's Competitive plan for the cycling, but doing my own thing for the swim and run (much more then the plan).   For the last 7 weeks or so, the plan has 4- 4hr rides, 1- 3:30 ride, 1-3 hr ride and an Oly race.   If you told me that was too little cycling I think I would scream

I just went onto Google and found an excel format of the Fink plan - Intermediate - with an amended sheet with increased loads for bike and run i think.  I've made it my own and it seems okay.  For me the more bike the better - being as I'm so hopless.  Swimming I just do what I do - run - by the time I get to the run I hope to have enough hours up my sleeve to walk it home!  hehe!

so for example - the original intermediate plan for week two is 2 hours 30mins bike.  This amended plan was 3 and a half hours.  10weeks out from my HIM and that plan calls for 4 hours.  I've come in at 3 hours 15 (it's a bit light as most is on the trainer)

Looking for the link and I'll post it.

Dearest Mantees - 3 and a half smiley faces SmileSmileSmileWink wanted to speak to a friend this morning but they didn't pick up, that kicked out half a face!

On the upside Artemis is feeling great.  Eating me out of house and home.  Results today from doc hopefully doesn't need any antibiotics.  DH also seems better - well he's not complaining!

I did 1 hour on the drainer at 4.30am, was supposed to run at lunchtime but WTF 65kph winds and I'm not sure how those branches in the park will hold up!  Plus the air quality is terrible - full of blossom, pollen and building site dust - it's not happening.  But it's fine - I got a long run friday, will try and fit in the short run tomorrow lunchtime - it's just 30mins.

Anyway 4.30am start makes a very tired Jojo.

Glad all are feeling better at your house, Jo.  And 4:30am--yech! You are a better woman than I!

I was meant to run 6km today, but only did 2.  Legs felt like LEAD.  Thought it would work itself out, but after 1km still not happening, so turned for home.  I have learned to listen to my body...

Ack!  A coworker is doing the Blue Ridge Relay this weekend and he just stopped by my office to say that they had someone bail on them.  They are looking for a runner.  I have BikeMS this weekend so cannot go.  Anyone want to run the BRR?

Too bad I'm on the wrong side of the country.

The thing about these relays is that your running is spaced over a considerable period of time (as Janyne said above, 36ish hours) Usually each leg isn't too long and there are varied difficulty levels. It's easier than it sounds and I'll bet you could just ask to be put on the easiest runs and walk if you need to.
