melbo55 - 2013-02-05 4:50 AM Wow, that was tough but I overcame temptation! Free food leftover from a meeting was put out at the 'vulture bar', including the HUGE, yummalicious cookies from Panera.  After standing there staring at them for at least a minute trying to decide if I was going to take a whole one, half of one or 1/4 of one, I chose to walk away, go get my yogurt out of the fridge and eat that.  Yikes!  FYI cookies are a major weakness for me.

I salute you!

I have no such courage. Unfortunately, I feel myself irresistibly drawn to make peanut butter cookies ... yet again.

Peanut butter cookies is my weakness.....Glad you are far far away or I would require some

jbwills - 2013-02-04 2:37 PM Started my 30 runs in 30 days today, I also found 3 more races I will be able to do before leaving Alaska. I am happy about those. They are a 5k, a timed hill run max 7.6 miles and a 7.1 mile. I am also going to be able to get back to swimming today. I am really looking forward to it.

Nice! Doing 30/30 was one of the best exercises I ever did. It taught me a lot about consistency and my ability to get out every day, even when you don't feel like it.

You should plan races for all of the locations you are visiting on you road trip

What's the typical mileage/volume in these 30/30 challenges? I've seen other positive responses from them and curious just how much running in addition to normal volume that it is

I think the point is that there isn't one. It's more about getting out there every day.

If you want to set other goals within that goal I think you can go ahead but I like the simplicity of just going with no mileage requirements.

The thing is, getting out there is often the hardest part. Once you are out there and going you will probably find yourself going further than you thought.

There isn't any typical. I've done 30/30 and a bunch of the runs were 10-15min. But they were instrumental in not just improving my running overall, but making the transition from primarily run:walk to primarily all-running.

I'm kind of divided right now between making peanut butter cookies or French toast, or just waiting 40min and having McDonald's deliver pancakes (their pancakes here are very good and home-made tasting, good enough to eat plain!).

Stupid coughing is keeping me up. Hard to sleep. Hoping I'll just get crazy tired and pass out.

Yeah, the French toast won out. Egg yolks are a good source of iron. Cinnamon, vanilla, wholewheat bread ... YUM indeed. Et 'em with some fruit sliced on top.

See, if I didn't want to eat ... yeah, then I'd be SICK. I'm quite optimistic.

I could maybe hit the dreadmill at the gym for a mile or two after swim, but that would require bringing running cr@p to the gym... I can't get sweaty after work on Wednesdays because we have Bible study, and Friday night is usually our eating out night... Hmmmmm

for me I set a minimum of 20 minutes.  You will find your legs are looser earlier - it's really nice to get into your stride early.

So as someone here once said to me (I believe it was you) how will it affect your training plan and what is your main goal? If it's a HIM in a few weeks time then maybe streaking just isn't for you right now. Or maybe you could change your definition of streaking to mean training every day rather than running every day. Just a thought.

amd723 - 2013-02-04 3:32 PM I was slammed at work today, so this is the first opportunity I've had to look at this thread. Once again I find myself way behind! So, congrats to all who raced so successfully this past weekend and to those whose health is improving. Salty, I know you put up a warning about your encounter, but like a train crash, I had to look. I'm sorry I did and can't believe you didn't say something or do something to Mr Spanks.Yanti, that is some tan line you're sporting in your latest avitar

Seriously? Did you have to use the word "dripping?" Wink

Bu to Ann-Marie's point, I know. I contemplated calling the cops for a long time but seriously I have had the worst experience with 911 operators in the past I just didn't feel like dealing with them. I know that is totally selfish.

Yeah but he was on a public (in fact very public roadway.) I imagine he'd get a ticket at a minimum for indecent exposure, potentially worse.

Hahaha I'd hate to be THAT cop.

Definitely at least indecent exposure. In Florida that is a criminal offense. But, I wasn't even thinking about you calling 911, I just figured you'd have some biting comment for him.
