THat's awesome for all of you going over your goal!!

put another 1000 m on my board and I am going back to the pool later today to make up some more distance with drill work.

I HAD A PR today!  clocked myself for 800m (the distance I will do in my sprint in 6 weeks). 14:19.  The first time I ever clocked myself in November my PR was 14:41 in a 25m pool so in three months I've shaved 20plus seconds and in a 50m pool!  That makes up for sleeping through my group run this morning (oops!)

hey guys.....sorry I've been kind of absent around here.  Between work, family, and running a mentor group, I just haven't had free time to stop in.  I missed 2 swims last week due a stomach virus but am on the way to catching up.  I've got 10500 or so out of my 16000 yds with 9 days to go.  Should be fine to reach my goal.

Hello everyone.  Work has kept me away from everything.  I could either go to my swimming group or lead my investment management team through a market opening that started with a 458 point decline.  Well, #2 won out.  I have hope for tomorrow afternoon after my eastern office closes.  If I ever find out who dreamed up this sub-prime stuff I am going to smack them...

I thought that seven hours would be easy.  Getting to a pool is not as easy as stepping out the front door for a run.

Got a good swim in last night and I will be back at the pool tonight when the Powers that be release me for the evening. I PROMISE I will get to 100%! I feel like I have been a bad teammate but If I have to pull a couple doubles I will help the team like I'm supposed to! Sorry.....

Hi everyone. Sorry I've been so absent from the forum and my logs. I just got back from my third funeral in as many weeks - with, sadly, another on looming on the horizon. Between that and the associated wakes and shivah calls my time has not been my own.

I hope to have some more time the board before Sunday.

All right team, let's get out there, and really get some mileage in this week and next week. This will be the last weekend to score some big distances, so please get out there and perform.

This is a new year, and let's surprise everyone else, and catch up from behind.

Team I know your are all swimmers and/or wanted to improve your swim. So lets put aside our pain of not liking swimming, and start putting in the time and mileage. By the end of the month, you will fall in love all over with swimming.

Happy training, and keep up the good work. It's  a real close one, so let's do it.

Go team!

Sorry guys, my time in the pool today ended up at work.  This was not a day to take much time off with a 500 point market swing today.  I got out at 3:30 my time (5:30 EST) for a 30 minute run (I work out of my house) and then back to work.  My lunch went into the trash on my way to take my wife and 87 year old mom to dinner.  I am making calls to find a pool in Ohio.  I fly back there at the end of the week.  Outdoor is OK here but it is during the day only.  Ohio will have some indoor pools, I will find one.  I thought that 7 hours would be a snap... what a fool I was.  I have such great respect for all of you.  I cannot make it 100 yds without getting sloppy.  In a HIM is in my cards for 6/09 I better get at it...  Thanks for all the encouraging words...

Sorry Team, but I just increased my goal from 40,000 to 50,000 meters. I'm still at goal, and will have more workouts tomorow, Saturday and next week. After loggin it in today, I saw %130.0 for me, and that is not acceptable, as they will only take 120%.

So time to push harder and try to swim almost everyday.

I know you can all do it, and if you travel use this link: www.swimmersguide.com . This will provide a pool no matter where you go, and if you are in a new location, you may be surprised at how many pools exist in your town, or not. But it has helped me with my extensive travel.

Happy training, and let's try to bring it home folks, you can all do it.

I've now made my goal, so I'm good to go with that.

But... I think I'm injured Not from swimming, but from biking. My left knee has been bothersome for quite awhile and just this last week has taken a turn for the worse. I'm taking a break from biking and running until I can get an appointment with my doctor. I'll still be swimming as I do not feel pain while swimming (except for when I push off from the wall, so I am trying to not push off much).

I'm frustrated. I hope that this doesn't turn out to be much. I JUST started my 1/2 mary training this week. I do have an extra week or two built into training that doesn't really need to be there, so I might still be able to do it. But until I hear from the dr. I won't know for sure.

I bow down to your swim amazingness!!

How do you stay mentally engaged in the pool for an hour and half?? after about 40 minutes I get BORED!! Like a cabin fever type of a feeling. It's really hurting my need to put in the longer workouts.

And I am declaring that first thing in the morning I will get out of bed and head to the pool to get wet and wild for 3000m!  My longest swim yet.  And if I don't do it, you all have permission to throw rotten eggs at me!

For me, it works best to break the swim down into parts. Like I would do an 800 warm-up, 2x100 of speed work, 200 recovery, 2x200 of speed work, 400 cool down. That would be a long session for me. So for you, add more speed sessions or do ladders. Write out a workout before you get to the pool and stick to it.

 Hope that helps!

Another 1400 yards for me this morning puts me at 11,800 yds - just 200 yards from my goal. I'll more than beat that this weekend.

I agree - for longer swims, it definitely helps to break it up into segments and just focus on one set at a time.

One of the best things I have done was to buy "Swim Workouts in a Binder for Triathletes" - It has a lot of workouts of various intensities, plus it's waterproof.  I find that with a set, structured workout I focus a lot less on the total time/yards I've done or worse, still have to go and more on the immediate set that I'm swimming.

Hope your 3000 yds went well!

Had hoped to finish out my 100% today, but I woke up with a cold.  Hopefully it will only last a day or so, and I'll easily finish my 100% before the month is up.

I would be 120% if I had not changed my goal to 50,000 meters. If I change it to yards, way pass that also. Anyway, will get 120% by end of month. Shotting for 60,000 meters for this month. Should be a good one. Happy training, and good luck.

I hope that the rest of the team can come up from behind, and show who we are. Let's go, and get in the pool. It's only two more workouts folks, so let's get in there, and do it. GO GO GO Team Wet and Wild.
