Champion 6973 marietta | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN Mentor Group-Closed! TIME TO TRAIN! SSMinnow - 2009-06-04 8:46 PM I hope all racers have a lot of fun and kick some butt out there. Since its my first year of triathlon, my goals are fairly simple...to have fun and finish each race. I'm really enjoying "watching" my mind and body try to figure all this stuff out. |

Elite 3395 Raleigh | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN Mentor Group-Closed! TIME TO TRAIN! Just got my start time and place for tomorrow's tri. I am number 102 out of 201. I have not been nervous until now. just a little. I will have to practice calming myself before the start. I think that the swim will calm my nerves as I have to remain steady throughout that leg and it is my worst. Thanks for the inspires. Doug |

Elite 4108 Calgary,AB,Canada | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN Mentor Group-Closed! TIME TO TRAIN! Good morning all....Good news and bad news..... Good news...The group swim went well last night. Nice to get some structure in my swim workouts. It was weird swimming at night, as I usually am in the pool early morning. Plus the swim started out poor as my mind was still on....... Bad news...Got knocked out of the poker tourney early. I think my mind was actually on wanting to go swimmming, but all good. As Sarah has said, weather here is horrible. Rainy and crappy...Hopefully it clears up for her and her tri tomorrow. Althought it is saying the high is olny going to be 8C(50F) for her. Mine isnt until Sunday and its 3 hrs north of here, and the forecast says high 15C(mid 60's). Not too bad i guess, but VERY unseasonably cold for us. Doug as your 1st tri here's my advice....start out the swim a little slow.Relax. Your HR will be through the roof 'cause you'll be so excited. Just relax and enjoy it! |

Expert 1007 Missouri | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN Mentor Group-Closed! TIME TO TRAIN! Hey all! Good luck to everyone racing this weekend - sounds like there are quite a few. I'm looking forward to reading some race reports! I'm taking a half day here at work then heading over to pick up my packet for my race on Sunday. I'll probably hit the gym also for a swim and then I'm headed downtown to watch the Cardinals beat up on the Rockies. Speaking of baseball, I found out yesterday that they're having a charity 5k down at the stadium during All Star weekend so I signed up. One of those once in a lifetime things so I couldn't pass it up. Have a great weekend! Janet |

Champion 7163 Verona WI--Ironman Bike Country! | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN Mentor Group-Closed! TIME TO TRAIN! smoore3 - 2009-06-04 9:55 PM So the weather forecast for my race on Saturday has changed. Here is how it looks: Cloudy rain/snow mix High of 3 degrees celsius, low of 1 100% chance of precipitation 20-30mm of rain and 5-10cm of snow Its on June 6th! And today at the location of the race it was 20 degrees. The weather in this province is crazy. Ive only been living here for a year and it is hard to get used to all the ups and downs (like snow in June). Im hoping the forecast improves!!!! YOWZA. I guess I should think twice about complaining that the weather forecast for my event is low 50s and with steady rainshowers. I cannot even imagine the swim, let alone the bike! Good luck. Be safe. |

Sounds like everone is racing except for John-- he's just biking and drinking beers..And he can have fun on the batmobile bike. I guess John and I have the same plans for the weekend. Planning on getting a last LONG ride in tomorrow morning and start winding down a bit for my oly on the 13, so I am not racing this weekend, but preparing to race. But I will be sure to get plenty of beers in after the bike. Good luck to everyone! I will be anxious to hear how you all do especially those doing OLY's. I am still struggling with the game plan and thinking that if I can just finish actually running the run I will be doing good. Concerned that I will really have to go slow on the swim and the bike to make that happen though. Be interested to get some fresh feedback from your experiences this weekend. |

Master 1952 Guelph, Ontario | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN Mentor Group-Closed! TIME TO TRAIN! Compared to everyone else it looks like it will be right balmy here. 19 degrees with only the chance of rain. water temp was 66F. For those of you who don't want to do the conversion it is the same. 19C = 66F. If the rain holds off it should be a great day to compete. The bike course has changed slightly but should be about the same in difficulty. |

Sunday we are leaving town. 10 days thru Gettysburg, Hershey, Philly, Baltimore, Atlantic City, DC and I'm sure some others. Hopefully the hotels have some decent pools and treadmills. So everyone, take care. I'll catch up in a couple weeks. We are currently on page 113 - I'm predicting 135 when I return. Added: I took it to 114 - I'm still calling 135 for my return. Elite 3072 san francisco | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN Mentor Group-Closed! TIME TO TRAIN! have a great trip Reuben! Good luck with your back Tony! You're going to do great. How's this for learning from past misadventures: I just booked a room 15 minutes away from my Oly for Sunday because I re-read my rr from last year's Luna Tri that was at the same venue and was reminded of driving up there at 4:00am and how much it totally sucked to be stiff from that long drive, practically falling asleep at the wheel and then have to go race! And I was going to just do it again! I probably won't sleep much the night before anyhow, but it's good to have the peace of mind of not having to wake up at 3:30am Good luck to everyone racing AND to those of you tapering. My goals for this race are to stay calm and positive on the swim and have fun on the bike and run. The water temps are supposed to be about 70F which is awesome. And the air temp at the beginning 55 with highs of 72 for the day. Lot nicer than our friends up north (SARAH!!!, omg- you are tough!) |

Read DocSwim24's race report from Reston, he wore one, one of the fastest swim times and super fast transition time. |

Ironhead does a lot of race around here. The last tri I did had a Tech-T, a waterbottle, bunches of coupons, and some samples of Cliff products. One before that was a cotton T-shirt and some brochures, etc. |
