Priceless! Originally posted by amd723I've spent this morning reading legislation regarding medical marijuana. I have to offer my thoughts on the proposed bill etc. so far my only thought is " I'm hungry". I think the Sheriff probably wants a bit more insightful analysis. I hear there are girl scouts selling cookies outside dispensaries. Maybe you can work that into your analysis!I'm sure you've taken a look at case law in CO and other states that allow medical mj. There's a case currently working its way through the CO courts that's being watched closely. It involves a quadriplegic man who had no job performance issues but who failed a random drug test. I don't think there are any published opinions about it but you might check WestLaw. CO has struggled with regulating quality because there are so few places that are state-certified to test THC levels. There's been a recent spate of "edibles" with wildly inaccurate amounts of THC reported on the labels. There's an article in the Denver Post a week or so back examining the issue. One company claimed to have 100 mg of THC when it actually only had 0.1 mg or some such. There was another company who reported having 100 mg that had 148 mg. There's also been a substantial increase (at least anecdotally) in the number of child THC overdoses seen at ERs. Even though medical mj is supposed to be sold in opaque, child-proof containers, kids are obviously getting ahold of it and overdosing, often on edibles. One more issue to consider is higher ed and federal drug-free campus requirements. Depending on jurisdiction, this might be another thing to address in your analysis. [taking paralegal hat off now.] On a somewhat more humorous note, there were an amazing number of young men here in CO with chronic pain issues who were able to get prescriptions for medical mj. I also heard about a man in CA who got a script for medical from a gynecologist!! |

We have looked to Colorado to see the kind of issues that have cropped up there. I think the hard part will be when we join the race group for the 67 not to ride hard. I've got to stay focused on Ironman Goal and control my effort. Should be a good day |

I'm sure your pups will understand - although they may start making you pay some serious bribes to salve their hurt feelings. |

Keep focussing on the BIG one coming up! Just looked at your log, made me tired just thinking about doing 6 hour rides again! I don't think I can face another IM this year but maybe IM Cairns next June??? |

Is that your final decision? How does it ride and how comfortable are you on it? I added it to the Manatee Bike Gallery Congratulations!!!!! |

Veteran 2842 Austin, Texas | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2014--CLOSED (begging & bribes MAY work) Yanti - what a wonderful invite! Like which picture do you think most people will dress??? Jonathan - Awesome ride! Fantastic that you're able to get out there and get that kind of mileage in - at any time of year, but especially this "early" in the season (I know - all relative to when your races are, but great work). Kirsten - Suh-weet ride!!! Have you christened it as yet? Chris - thanks for putting that link up (didn't realize there was such a page, but that's cool - might have to add pics of my bikes, too). I bagged both my workouts yesterday - first time I've done that in something like forever. Needed to rest (felt like an injury was in the offing, since I didn't really recover at all from last week's HM and I was in pain during my Saturday run - not just the good suffering kind, but leg and back pain that weren't normal). The weird thing is that I've had a solid 36 hours of guilt about it! I know that is messed up (so I'm not dwelling on it), but has anyone else felt that? This is an avocational activity for me, and missing one day intentionally and for reasonable cause should be a positive thing - getting faster while resting and all of that. Yet, there it is... Maybe I should force myself to take a day and just sit and eat ice cream. Instead, I'll just get back to the second week of my first "build" block for a June race. PLANNING ROCKS! Right? What's on tap for the week Manatees? Matt |
