Expert 868 CALEDONIA/MIDDLEVILLE, MICHIGAN | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread This is a great statement. Made me chuckle: I'll be here tomorrow to say I'm ready. My Road to Ironman Louisville video processed faster than I expected. If you enjoy the video, you might enjoy my latest blog post which gives more detail to the ride I mentioned in the video. Peace. |

Am I supposed to pee myself then, too? I say "too" because i plan on it while in the river anyway. I mean, I will pee myself in line if that is the rule, but... Oddly, the washroom issue was my biggest concern as well... nerves and and my bladder are not friends! But what will be will be, and I'm sure things will work out! Any previous Ironman I've done, the porta-potty line is at least a 30 min wait anytime after 5:30am anyway! lol |

Expert 1143 Wellington, Florida | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Second to last brick done 80/5, legs felt just "ok" first 20mi then opened up as ride went on. Just ran heading out on the 5mi run, didnt push or hold back, let the body set the pace....happy 8:10s and ran mile 5 in 7:56, Ill take that. Arch on right foot still a little sore after after the run, iced it, day to day, glad the long runs are over and can start "healing" the body over the next 2 weeks. 1hr OWS / 2.5hr bike tomorrow. Next Sat is my last brick, 4hr ride / 4mi run. everything else is just short interval stuff during the week. Hope all are "getting it done" as this is the last chance to dial things in. Getting excited, not nervious...yet. Looking forward to good friends in LOU and meeting other BTers. The Underwear run is a great way to get your support crew involved, make them feel part of the weekend and have a good laugh at the same time!! PS: water stations every 10 miles on the bike??...that seems like a lot, makes things eaiser, less bottles to carry. Edited by The Cube 2011-08-13 5:14 PM |

Extreme Veteran 483 San Diego | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I spoke with a friend who raced last year and he said there were no aid stations after mile 80 of the bike. 30 miles seems like a long way to go without aid, so maybe they've added some towards the end of the course this year? btw...does anyone know what the current river temp is? Should I even consider bringing a wetsuit? I heard it was 80+ last year, but I'd hate for it to end up being wetsuit legal and not have one. Ocean temps are hovering around 65 here, so I've been back in a wetsuit for the past week or so. 2 miles in the ocean last night and just wrapped up a 70/10 brick. Felt sluggish after about 20-30 miles on the bike and the run was not pretty. Trail run at altitude again tomorrow morning and then another OWS at noon - looks like we're going for 2.5. It will be good to knock out an over-distance swim. It's been a while since I've done that and if nothing else, I think it will help mentally. Perfect weather for racing here - 70s and overcast all day on the coast. Not so good for heat training. Oh well...back into the furnace again on Monday morning. |

Veteran 118 Somerset, PA | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Last long run done this morning. 3 hours work out to a touch over 20 miles at 8:55 mile pace. First 15 felt great the last five were a bit of a chore. Also got an hour and a half ride on on the trainer. Tomorrow it's up at 4am to meet a friend for a charity century ride and one hour brick run. Last long brick workout and I'll be thrilled to get it done.Today was also my son's cross country teams annual 5k run/fundraiser. I opted not to do it because I would be terrified to roll an ankle on the course. Lots of side hill running on the home course. I did get back in time from the long run to cheer him and my daughter on. Anyone else skipping certain activities because you're worried about a potential injury. Good luck to everyone putting in the last of the long workouts. Stay safe and healthy.Peter B |

Expert 868 CALEDONIA/MIDDLEVILLE, MICHIGAN | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread ?Attached is a photo of my friend Ryan and I. If you read my blog post "Inspirations of a Champion," you will know what I'm talking about. He won his weight class, best poser (seamless/flawless posing), and nearly won the overall which involves all of the weight class champions competing against each other. Day off yesterday. Likely an easy-going, hour spin on the trainer today. |

Expert 668 Lancaster, PA | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Hello everyone,
I have been out of touch for the last three months here in the blog and truly wished I had more time to read all the post leading up to today. My goal for Louisville went out the window in mid-April when I took a new job. The last 2.5 months have lacked A LOT! of training time. When you from 12 to 18hrs a week of training and you drop it down to less than 7 hrs (if that), certainly makes you wonder what will happen come race day. My goal was to break last years time, not it is just all about SURVIVAL. I think I built an engine until mid-April. So yes! I am a little nervous about the race and truly hoping all goes smoothly. Tomorrow will be a long saddle ride followed by a mid-distance run.
To all of you who have put in the time, hard work, stayed on course with your training plan as well as your nutritional plan- YOU ARE READY! ... it is time to enjoy all the hard work. Someone asked me last year while waiting on the swimming line how come I was not nervous and why I looked so calm? my reply was really simple- " I am ready!". Mentally I was ready to roll with the punches if anything unexpected came up. ... .... If you ask me the same question this year- my answer would probably be "ask me again at the finish line"
Good Luck to Everyone! hope I get a chance to meet a lot of you guys. If there is any meet ups or get together- let me know!

Regular 61 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I broke myself down really hard over the past month and have struggled to do paces that seemed easy in mid-June. That was rough, but now comes the payoff! I started tapering after my last long run (22 miles, 2:54) last Sunday and only did 32 miles running, 100 miles bike and 5600 swim this week. I can already feel the difference! My body is recovering and I actually feel good for the first time in a long time. Two more weeks of this and I might be able to do a double IM! Just kidding, but I will be ready for Louisville, Lord willing. Hope everything is coming together for you guys too. |

Alpharetta, Georgia | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Quick question for veterans: How is this race/area regarding sidewalk chalk? Didn't read every word of the athlete guide yet, but at Wisconsin it was almost encouraged. Just didn't know if there were specific rules to Louisville about chalk. Planning on giving some to my family again this year if it's cool.

Veteran 140 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Last big bike/run brick: @60/15. Cooler temp and low humidity was awesome. Love to see that in 2 weeks. 85 degrees isn't bad when the humidity isn't 100%---duh. Got some more enjoyable workouts this week: more open water swims...shorter high intensity bike rides...a little transition practice. Anyone riding part of the course Friday or Saturday? |

It seems like Millenium has been canceled a coupla times in the past years ... tragic, especially since so many young people register for it ... oh, well. Enjoying a self-indulgent day off today ... ahhhhh ... plus, my daughter is home for a coupla weeks before heading off to school. Everyone, just remember that your relationship priorities trump just about everything. Yes, even IM Louisville, which agrees with me, and is patiently waiting for us ... with a stern task ... a furrowed brow .. and crossed arms ... in exactly two weeks ... gulp! Wish I could join you this weekend. Hi there - I would like to ride a bit of the course on both Friday and Saturday before the race - was planning a VERY easy hour-ish ride on Friday morning (around 9-10am) and about 20-30 minutes on Saturday before I check my bike. I am staying at the Galt House and will start from there, I would love to have company. |
