Fred D - 2012-04-01 4:51 PM Hey we have been moved to mentor archives. Usually this is when I end it and start another group, however I would prefer to just keep this one going. If anyone would prefer to try another group, or just wants out, pm me and it is totally fine. I won't be starting another new group this spring, just sticking with this one if you will still have me

I will definitely keep up with this group! Time sure flies!

Race went well.  BUT, I shorted the course twice.  Sigh.  On the run.  I had a great swim, a great bike, and was having a great run when I realized it.  I stopped to talk to Tina who was at mile 9 but my watch said 6.  I eventually figured out I missed a loop.  A volunteer directed me the wrong way.  My fault of course since it is my responsibility to know the course.  Anyways, when I realized it I talked to another volunteer and I did that loop 3 times in a row (total I was suppose to go).  So in the end I did 70.3 and had a respectable time, although when I realized about the run I was pretty demoralized.  Anyways, couldn’t find an official onsite so I will email them and see if they want to DQ me.  I ran the same distance as everyone but clearly not the same course.  Thankfully I do this for myself and have no hope in placing anyways.  It bums me that I did that but I am happy I did not quit and went ahead and finished the distance anyways.

Well I am back.  My race did not go anywhere near as planned.  I DNS both quads cramped up in my warm up.  I got the cramps out before the start.  At the start the right quad cramped up and then locked up.  My starting pace was 7:55.  I hope this is not how the season is going to go.

Brush it off, you've had a tough week and this is in no way a sign of your season upcoming. Honestly James, your comeback to solid training after illness is THE victory regardless of any race season.

James- what I like about you is how you put a fight and how you roll with the punches no matter what. Just a minor set back - sight on the next race. Happy training my friend!

Don't beat yourself up. It happens and it has happened to me at a race before (twice in same race, but I went the long way both times). You are honest Kim and I KNOW you would never ever have cheated, so your time is legit to me regardless of WTC. Congrats again!

Thanks Fred, that means a lot.

I actually ran with Nik a bit yesterday.  Cutting the course allows you to catch up with all kinds of people.  Saw Tiff out on the course a few times...way into to the zone.  lol.  It was super cool meeting them in person finally.  They were in the very first mentor group I ever joined.

Things feel pretty good this morning.  Some muscle soreness but nothing to bad.  Today is Tina's last day in Austin so we are all going birding with her this morning.  That will at least get us moving around and help prevent too much muscle stiffness from settling in.  Then a nice bbq rib feast tonight.  Oh, first we start the day off with some homemade tamale's.  Life is good.  I will probably have about 10 pounds to lose from this trip alone.

well, i will start April with my walk of shame

i weighed 215.5 this AM, that is the heaviest i have been since November, it all ends today.

diet plan is in effect and plan is in place to recover and get ready for my two races in June.

my goal is 205lbs by June 1

Aprils goals are 75 run, 500 ride and 20k swim

may's goal is 100 run 500 ride and 25k swim

this will get done, i am not wasting the good winter i had because of self destructive stupid decisions made in Feb and March.

As Fred's sig line pretty much sums it up

I agree with Fred.  That was but a day in your race season.  There will be more but you already have a huge success in that you are once again able to train and race.  Remember that you are still building, even though your fitness is really coming around

I forgot too. I'll have to do it tomorrow morning.

Hi guys - Kim, glad to hear you're feeling pretty good. How's everyone else doing with recovery?

I am actually off for the week. Doing chores and errands today and then heading tomorrow to be with my mom and dad for the next few days and help out where i can.  I am bringing my bike and will keep up with training while there.

Though funny is that I bought a two month gym membership for really cheap from Groupon thinking i would need it through winter. It was about to expire so i went in on Friday. I have my fitness assessment today but it's really hard not to tell them to just back off with the hard sell since I really don't need a gym and i am just activating this to see if I might use it and have a back up option for run or spin when i am feeling wimpy.  It is such a fancy gym though - i have never belonged to one so fancy ... hahahaha. It would be different if they had a pool.

Anyway, later this afternoon in the evening I have the fitness assessment, floor hockey and swimming.  Should be a busy day!
