Just got back from 2 days in Chicago.  I love that city more and more all of the time.  It was an extension of the workshop I was in earlier in the week.  Going to set up a time to meet Melissa from the mg for a Lake Michigan swim one of these days.

Time to load the car, stretch and get a good nights sleep.

Good luck to ALL of the racers this weekend, especially Chet and Julia.

Tony - sorry to hear about the problems but we all know your cycling is very strong. Your coach is right, your body's telling you something.

I'm still reading Phil Mafetone's book on endurance training and while there's a part of me that thinks he's spouting chiro-babble there's also a lot of truth in what he says. I've just read the chapter on overtraining and I'm sure we all slip into that at times and pay the price! I think Doug's recent shingles and tendinitis would fit with that.

Trevor - have you ever got the kids to walk up and down on you while you lie on the floor? Works for me.

Good luck Chet and Julia! You're going to do great!!!

I had a good race this morning.  I took 6 minutes off last year's time and was faster in every discipline.  Even both transitions were faster (1:31 & 1:05).  The swim and bike were fun, but the was still my biggest struggle-by far.

More later when the official results are out.

GO CHET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, guys! It was a rough 2nd half - that's what happens when you go out WAY too fast - but I'm super happy with a PR and a BQ! We'll see if it's enough to get me in. If it's not, I'll just try again!! I really enjoyed the race. The first half was beautiful, with a long stretch along Lake Washington. The second half was less scenic, and involved lots of concrete, cambered surfaces. It was surreal running through the I-90 tunnels with techno dance music blasting and echoing off the walls. About as far from trail running as you can get!

Jayne - Congratulations on your race! 6 minutes is an awesome improvement!

Here's my RR.  Read it quick between all the BQ and Ironman posts! Hoping my transitions made John proud.

Chet, we will all have our fingers crossed that nothing gets cancelled.  But remember, you only have control over so much and you are READY!!!  Get some!

I know of at least one stud racing this weekend and it's going to be quite a show!  Anyone else ready to give it 110%?  If so, spill the details!

If you're not racing, how're you holding up so far this season?  mentally? physically?  what do you need help with?

I haven't written a race report, I am still trying to figure out what happened this morning, but it was one heck of a race.  I came out of the swim feeling fast as lightning, and was ready for the bike leg.  I think my transition was great.

Around mile 5 I crashed my bike, got a flat, and ended up with some mechanical (gear) problems.  It took me a LONG time to get it figured out, but managed to pull it together.  The best part was the 20% grade climb the last 1/4 of a mile before the bike turnaround.  I got to race a truck on the way down at 30 mph and I felt so alive!

Made it in, and managed the 4 mile trail run.  I think today was more about my mental victories than my time, and I am very pleased to have been able to finish in one piece Laughing

Congratulations to you Julia, you are a rock star, and you inspire me!
