Now that tri season is over for me I'm looking to start a run focus for the fall, with an eye towards a local HM on 11/1 and a 5k on Thanksgiving. I'd like to PR my HM time and I think with a solid focus and consistent training for the next 8 weeks I have an outside shot at winning the 5k. It's a local race and the competition isn't great - I finished 6th last year on almost no weekly run volume.

After Thanksgiving I'm planning a swim focus for the winter, then ramping the biking back up in the spring to get ready for the season.

45 minute masters swim and 35 minute easy treadmill run yesterday.

Adding 30 minute swim yesterday and 55 minute run this morning. Cold, damp and windy but somehow one of the most enjoyable runs I've had in a long time.

Congrats Dave and Dan on your races and also with Jim and Mitch on the Sept. Challenge.

I have had a hard time with training and work and was in El Salvador this weekend with the family and today am flying to Delhi India for a business conference and then to Tokyo for meetings. So training will suffer even more, but still committed to somehow doing IM Arizona in Nov.

Hope everyone is doing well and will add my totals to the Sept and Oct challenges from Delhi. Cheers

Im still alive here but taking a bit of a break, training will resume after Canadian thanksgiving this weekend. Triathlon activities have been confined to prep for the fall/winter training season. New blinds mounted and a new mini fridge for the training room, new (used) disc brakes installed on the old mountain bike. I need to sign up again for trainerroad again and put the training tire back on the bike, also need to build a bike/run based plan for the next 10 - 12 weeks.

Next race is 25km/50km single track challenge coming up on the 18th. I will likely sign up for the 25km unless I really feel like punishing my body.

I'M BAAACCKK!! I'm happy to announce after almost 6 weeks I am finally able to swim with the shoulder and can now participate in all 3 sports again. I started running and cycling again almost 2 weeks ago but today was my first attempt at the pool. The shoulder was stiff at first but after a few laps it started to loosen up. I'm super stoked that I can now go outside and play with my friends again.

Your training plan is a guide but you don’t blindly follow it. You shouldn’t know exactly what you are going to do until the day you are to do it.
