Well if the storms hold off it sounds like great weather!

What happens if it does storm? Do you all take shelter somewhere until it goes away? Or do you run through it?

Trying not to look at the weather, but boy it's hard not to. Just finding it ironic that the only day in a week with a half inch of rain predicted and thunderstorms is Sunday. Hahahahaha.... Monday is perfect though..

My error, they're predicting 1"-2" of rain....that will be fun on the downhills - particularly with the turns on Duplessis.

Another swim logged this morning with masters--2400m. We did all our sets in multiples of 600 (12x50; 6x100, etc.). It was fun! I was up a lane today due to crowding, so it was super hard too--no lolly gagging on the rest for me today!

Braking in the rain is like shooting a gun. Squeeze don't pull. Brake before the turn, release the brakes into the turn. The bike has more traction than you think.

Thanks, Alan! Yes, I actually drive that way too - just like on ice. Hahaha.
Sunday is the race, heading to the dinner and race meeting now. Fireworks tonight.
Tomorrow will be a short s/b/r probably reverse order (due to swimming to the coffee boat) then have to have our bikes and transition bags turned in between 12-4 tomorrow. They announced we will not be getting our special needs bags back this year (I took a few things out); those come with us Sunday morning. So different than other races I've done - nothing by your bike, just the bike. Hoping the weather will push on through but stay cool.

Have a great race!

My weekend plans are not quite as grand, however they do include a trail run up a local ~1500' peak. Last week I ran up the neighboring ~1200' peak and next week I'm going to run up both as I ramp up for my next trail half-marathon in a couple weeks. The elevation chart for the "twin peak" run will be quite a sight.

Gretchen, I understand your feeling quite well, as I guess it happens to all of us: we are so target-focussed that after a race we need again -and soon- another target. After my HIM and race-road, it took me a while to go out again. Finally I am back into training, and while finding a focus for 2017, I signed up for a FULL IM in Austria next July (!) A bit scared now, but plenty of time to train it and to learn from all of you.

Alan, amazing race! Too bad about the flats but great experience. I canĀ“t imagine how to go up a 15% climb, I am riding this summer in places like these at 9% as almost die.... I ride with 50x34 and 11-28, what do you ride for these climbs?

Thanks, guys! Bike and transition bags have been turned in, dinner has been eaten and I even had a sip of wine to calm the nerves. There is nothing I can do about the crap weather rolling in but the way I look at it, I've had a lot of challenges in training this year so this is just one more thing and I'll get through it. I envision myself laughing wildly as I spin up Concepcion and hydroplane down Duplessis. I will make the best of it, we will all be dealing with the same rain and lightning.
