very apprehensive - especially cause i pulled up after 1/2 mile run y/day with my knee in all sorts of pain (ligaments).   PT said its out of alignment.

what would people do - 1) nothing all week and go for it on the day or 2) light run sessions?

Oh crap!  I would do nothing.  Chill out.  Follow DC's advice on taping.  Have your fiance feed you grapes and fan you with a giant banana leaf.  Your fitness is in you, you just need that wheel to be fixed in 7 days!

The Madness has set in. If got some minor chafing/irritation going on and I'm imagining an open sore come race day. It's hot and humid and muggy and I'm sweaty in all my creases. I've decided to skip a 1:40 ride today to let things heal up. Aquaphor is my friend!

3 days of work then I'm headed for upstate NY!!!!!

What a brutal day out there for a run in the Rochester area today. My wife did Musselman, and you should have seen the carnage out there. Even though I kinda laugh at trying to check the forecast for the race next week, I sure hope it's NOTHING like it was today. I felt bad for everyone racing today.

Here's to seeing you all out on the course next week!!!

Hey everyone.  Been a rough past few days.  I'm battling a nasty sinus infection.  Got me some antibiotics, loads of vitamin C, all sorts of homeopathic remedies and I'm trying to get right... quick!

To stay positive, here are a few of my favs from this year:

-Signing up last year and volunteering, cycling umpteen times in the pouring rain this year, rocking a 4:26 half iron, waking up before 5am so many times this winter just because a piece of paper next to my bed said I needed to; that nothing comes without dedication, and enjoying the company of so many here and around Buffalo who are training for IMLP as well.  It feels like a family affair these days.

I wasn't there but I had a lot of Buffalo tri club friends racing and I've heard some pretty brutal tales so far.  Very intense day for everyone!  I'd take pouring rain and shivering temps over the 90s any day but ya gotta play the hand your dealt, as they say!

I caught one the week before last and I called Dr. immediatly to get some meds to knock it out.  A Z-Pack and Allegra D at night did the trick.

Thanks DC and George...   I`ll talk to my physio about that taping.  Appreciate the response and advice.  She had taped me at the end of last week when i told her me knee began to hurt towards the end of Tuesdays run.  Took it easy Wed - Sat then figured i`d be good to run...  clearly not.  The ice machine has been over override.

Any idea where i can grab a banana leaf? :-)

Weekend taper consisted of a day at the beach body-boarding with the kids followed by a day at home by the pool with friends and a few (too many) beers.  Not exactly on my taper schedule, but certainly WELL needed.  I am starting to feel like I'm healing up rather than being beaten up...

my taper started by hanging around the house for AN ENTIRE DAY while my front yard was dug up to get to the broken water pipe that conects my well to the house. $2700 Sunday. This will be an expensive week for sure.

Anyone want to set us up with a Google Excel Doc and we can all put our name, username, number and projected time for Race Day?  I've used the tool before but don't know how to set it up...

Raises hand.  My training tires have been beaten up well and have put a LOT of miles on them.  Figure I wouldn't test fate and try to squeeze that last 112 out of them.

It depends how bad your tires are to begin with... If you have Zipps, sometime its a pain in the rear to switch so close, especially if you get a flat on the course, if you are running zipps, they need to stretch so when you have a flat, you can get them back on without ripping the skin off your hands.

My taper week, Friday, bearings go out in my truck (thats what I need to drive to Placid), saturday nice 2 hour ride, saturday afternoon truck will not start, sunday rest and truck starts, Monday nice easy 6 mile run, truck doesn't start, Now sitting at dealership waiting for the painful bill. I really dont think I need the added stress at this point.

I didn't get new tires, but last week I rotated my race tires and re-installed them in the correct rotational direction this time. Doh!

I am walking out the door to leave for Lake Placid right now. If no one else wants to set up the Google Doc I can when I get to my hotel tonight. For all of you leaving later this week, I hope you have safe travels, and I will see you in LP.

Hi All,

Hope everyone's healthy and happy to be close the big day! By this time next week I hope that everyone is basking in the glory of a job well done. Weather looks favourable at this point - much better than southwestern Ontario this week as they call for (with humidity) 43C on Wednesday and a whopping 47C on Thursday! Luckily I'll be in Placid by then. Safe travels.

Hi guys,

Just spend the weekend on Vancouver Island. Did a lot of sleeping! Now I have to get all my stuff together to pack up to leave for Placid on Wed.

Feeling better now, but still tired. Haha. I'm getting a bit worried about the heat out there since I live in the land of cool breezes and 20C right now...going to need to come up with a salt contingency plan for the race.

ALSO: MY NEW ANDY JERSEY CAME! YAY YAY YAY!! I won't get it till Wed night because it went to my house in Edmonton. SO I will get it when I meet up with my Mom in the Calgary airport! Right in time for the big stages in the Alps! ANDY ANDY ANDY!

Yes.  Well kind of.  I am putting my race wheels on today, and my race wheels have my race tires on them which only see the road when I am, well, racing

Just dropped my bike off with Tri Bike Transport in Atlanta - so far they all look good, peewee!
I have always traveled with my bike in a TriAll3Sports case (only one TSA catastrophe in 20 years), this is the first time I have shipped it - A little anxious, but I am looking forward to only having to install my pedals when I get there. In late on Thursday night, with a orientation swim on Friday and about a 50 minute bike.

Every time I check it's a different forecast!

I guess that's what we can expect on race day; unpredictable weather.
