Heard the lake cooled off a bit since last weekend with some of the rain this week.  My friend swam in a sleeveless w/ two caps and said he was chilly but warmed up once he got moving.  Im bringing my full w/ a few caps just in case.  Not sure what Ill be wearing on the ride - if it's chilly, a red, white and blue Cadence bike jersey/jacket probably.  On a silver and red Cervelo Soloist

Questions:

In the state of new york, when your caught peeing in the bushes do you get a ticket or jail time? lol

During Ironman race when your caught peeing in the bushes do you get a time penalty or DQ?  Ive look through the rules, I may have missed it....

Was this pre race start?  I was in the back row somewhere by that blue tent.  It was a cool thing to watch for sure.

I'm heading up to LP also this weekend.  I'll be wearing a white Toga Multisport kit and riding a white Shiv...  I'll be the really slow running too!  Give a shout!

Best of luck!

I don't think this week is going to go how I planned...

I'm currently in Paris to watch Roland Garros(the French Open(Tennis)).

I had intended on running in the mornings and finding a Frech pool to swim laps in. So far I have been less than successful.

I took Monday off after my long weekend at Rev 3 Quassy, Tuesday and Wednesday were spent traveling/randomly walking around Paris taking photos to ward off the Jet Lag. I spent today, Thursday, on the tourny grounds watching Tennis, and considering it's now 1:30am when I get back to my hotel room I don't have much hope for tomorrow morning.

I need motivation.. or I need to enjoy this week off before I get back to serious training....

For the record Rev 3 was very successful for me(slow, but successful) so I know I'm in a good place fitness wise...

Onsite in LP.  Swam the cable when I arrived.  Mirror Lake is 61 degrees.  However, there are many pockets of warmer and cooler water everywhere.  Overall, its very comfortable right now.  There are people, supposedly, swimming it without wetsuits.  I was in a wetsuit and found my feet to be a little cold at times but nothing alarming.  My feet are always cold.  I really love that swim - especially when Im 1 of 10 people and not 1 of 2800.  It is such a beautiful swim.  I was grinning from ear to ear the entire way.  Love to be in that lake - something about it.

We set out on the course tomorrow moring.  I rode the Keene desent in the opposite direction today on the way in from 87.  It is in poor condition but not horrific.  We were told that pot holes will be filled but no new paving will be done for IMLP.  I havent seen anymore of course yet but will check in after the ride tomorrow.

Near the Louve: Les Halles: Forum des Halles, 10 place de la Rotonde , 1st Arrondissement

or

Near Notre Dame: Piscine Pontoise-Quartier Latin 19 Rue Pontoise, 75005 Paris, France

Found both of these using the swimradar app last time we were in Paris - if you travel a lot in the US or abroad and want to swim it is a must have. FYI, both were pretty crowded when we were there.

But shouldn't you really be swimming in pain au chocolat instead?

So so so so so so so jealous of everyone who is getting to actually train in LP!!! my weekend includes riding to my Fiance's house(50 miles) to help with the bridal shower, riding home from said bridal shower, and then proceeding to unload all of the goodies we receive at previously stated bridal shower and then sunday will include a long run in the morning(suppose to be near 100 here) and then organizing enough things to fill a mansion in our two bedroom apartment. should be interesting and I think the training will be a nice break from the stress of the weekend. Let us know how the training on site goes!!

I'm gonna change my name to bear... so if I get stopped and the for some reason the cop asks,"Does a bear !$#@% in the woods?" I can answer,"Why, yes... he does."

I was doing the same thing last year when I was there volunteering.  I was there a couple days early and I swam Mirror Lake and I was practically laughing the entire way.  I don't plan on seeing the cable during the actual race but if I do man will I be smiling some more.

Okay, so we are at the precipice of Placid peak training.  Going forward our tried and true motto to everyone and everything is: "Don't you know I'm training for an Ironman?"  All of the training from Christmas till now was simply to prepare us for the Here & Now.  The Real Training.  PEAK TRAINING.

If you think you skipped out on responsiblities and regular life commitments before, just wait and see how bad it'll get in the next 4 weeks.  Fatigue will be at an ALL TIME High.  We will be cranky and irritable when not training, and there will be little to NO TIME for anything BUT 'Ironman Training'.

So again, our 'Get Out of Jail Free Card' is our tried and true statement to everyone and everything is, [repeat aloud]:   "Don't You know I'm training for an Ironman?"

For example:

Your spouse says to you, "Honey, you haven't mowed the lawn in a few weeks, and my sister is getting married this weekend and you haven't even picked up your tux yet.  What's going on?"

To which we respond, "The yard can wait till August.  And doesn't your sister know I'm training for an Ironman?"

________________

Your spouse says to you, "Honey, your boss is wondering why you haven't shown up to work the last few days?"

To which we respond, "Duh, I've been too exhausted from Ironman training.  I told my boss I'm doing an Ironman.  What the heck?"

_________________

Your child calls out softly from their bedroom, "Come read me a bedtime story"

To which you peek your head in an respond, "Sweetie, I'm real sorry, but you know I'm training for an Ironman, right?  I have to get up at 4:30 tomorrow morning so I can swim 2 miles straight and then sit on a bike seat for six and a half hours. I need to get to bed now.  See me in August, okay sweetie "

________________

Whether it's the bank calling about the damn late mortgage payment, the arrogant cop who pulls you over for doing 80 mph on a side street on the way to the pool, or the annoying divorce lawyer speaking on behalf of your spouse (who no longer speaks directly to you) and has packed their bags and left, stating they did so because: you haven't mowed the lawn or done any other chores around the house; haven't shown up to work in days; spent zero time with the kids; have been fired from our job; have forgotten to pay a few measly bills like the mortgage and utilities - You boldy explain to that lawyer "Dammit, don't you know?  I'm training for a freaking Ironman!?!"
