Now this year is becoming a runner again. I just finished a 12-week run build getting to 15 mpw with two quality runs each week, mostly leg speed stuff then a little threshold work towards the end. |

Great to have you back!! It doesn't matter if your goal isn't a 1000 miles. That's the beauty of the spreadsheet. You can put in any goal you might have!! So please join the spreadsheet and put the goal in that you think you can attain and go for it!! Chris |

Other than getting a tummy bug right before a 5K race LOL. I've been seeing a physical therapist for about six weeks now. I went in basically saying, "my back gets on my nerves, fix it!" and we've done a ton of hip, glute, and back strengthening and balance work and it has worked wonders. I'm never going to be pain free but it's getting me in my running shoes more consistently, and that's what matters. Anyway, up to about 60 miles so far this year (target 600), a little behind schedule but I was pretty sick for a week about a month ago. |

As of a 10K race yesterday (where I was pacing my daughter and wound up right at an hour with my HR mostly in high-Z2, low-Z3 range so I had a lot of upside if I went at it), I'm at 144 miles for the year. I have a big run month coming up as I build for a sprint tri the first weekend in June. Thrilled with how 2024 is going so far - just gotta keep up with all of the PT work which is SO time-consuming but I have to do it. How's everyone else? |

Expert 4929 Middle River, Maryland | Subject: RE: 1000 Miles in 2024 Just past halfway - how's everyone's progress? My June sprint was kinda meh on the run, but had a better 5K race in late June. Another sprint this weekend. I've been solidly averaging 10-15 miles a week and I'm pace for 500 running miles, which will be the most since 2014. |

Expert 4929 Middle River, Maryland | Subject: RE: 1000 Miles in 2024 My running has come to a screeching halt recently. Was doing a parkrun on a mulit-use path and got too close to the edge and rolled over my ankle/foot hard, crashing to the ground. So I jacked up my ankle and got road rash running in a straight line with no one around me. I'm my own worst enemy sometimes. I did however, for better or worse, get up and run the final 0.3 miles to the finish on one leg basically. I'm at about 400 for the year so we'll see how this heals - nine days later still wouldn't think of running on it but I can walk fine.

Giving an injury like that all the time it needs is key. Patience is a huge virtue.. Good on you for doing the race in the first place! FWIW, I've had a couple of spectacular wipeouts on mixed-use trails, myself. |

Master 2761 Los Angeles, CA | Subject: RE: 1000 Miles in 2024 Super duper latecomer here! I've been part of this running challenge years ago, hehe. I'm thinking of doing a half marathon before the year's end to redeem my pitiful half marathon performance at Ironman 70.3 Santa Cruz last September. If I can get there healthy I can probably make it to 530 running miles for the year, not quite 1000 but it's more running than I've done in the past 4 years. Roland |

Master 2761 Los Angeles, CA | Subject: RE: 1000 Miles in 2024 Yay, I pwnd my 10k time trial predicted time by 2:30 at 53:31! No issues felt during or after the run and based on today's performance, a sub 2:00 half marathon is possible! Yesterday as I was looking at my training plan I realized I made a booboo with my math and my race is coming up in 2 weeks instead of 3, hehehe. I don't think I'll make it to 530 miles but I should make to a bit over 500. |
