Christmas gifts that didn't work out the way you thought?

So this Christmas, as a partly serious, partly gag gift, I gave my wife a keychain... but not just any keychain.  This keychain beeps when you whistle, so if you misplace it, just whistle and it beeps.  I got it for $5 at Tar-zhay (so i wasn't expecting much).

Well it works.  But not just when you whistle... when our boys are running around being loud...it beeps.  When one of the boys throws a fit and is screaming... it beeps.  When one of the boys whines about wanting a piece of candy... it beeps.  When the wife is in the throes of passion... nevermind...

Now to my wife's credit, she did try to destroy the keychain.  Christmas morning she threw a load of laundry in the washer before we hit the road.  She had left the keychain in the pocket of her pants with hope of destroying the evil device.  And being the awesome wife she is, not wanting to hurt my feelings, she kept her cell phone in the pocket with the keychain so it would seem like an accident.  The amazing thing?  Both have sprung back to life.  So now the cell phone is back in her purse... and the keychain is hanging by the door where it goes off every chance it gets....

So any gifts you gave or got that don't work exactly as you expected?  Either good or bad?
