Master 1623 | Subject: RE: Biggest Loser 5-18 SPOILERS I third this! I think an Ashley/Daris relationship is way more likely. BigBoy - 2010-05-20 9:46 AM Fatdoggy - 2010-05-20 8:33 AM That's funny because my wife has been saying the same thing for the past few weeks. My wife is pretty certain that Michael is gay, so if she is correct a hook up with he and Ashley is not likely. ;-) |

I think it is reasonable to suspect that some weight will be gained after the finale, but Eric and Sione did more than just gain 15-20 back. While its good they spend the final 90 days at home, its difficult to overcome, I would assume, the emotional let down after the finale and trying to stay motivated. Ally seems to have figured it out by endorsing the products and essentially continuing to be a spokeman for the show and its by-products. Very sad that Ally (Allie?) was the only one who seemed to still look amazing. The rest of the former contestants all looked to be 40+ pounds overweight again. I also though the trainers were a bit harsh with Daris about not losing weight while training for the marathon. Both Bob and Jillian have both admitted neither has done a marathon. While you can certainly lose weight in training, if you are not used to and conditioned to understand the calorie cravings your mind and body will inflict on you while preparing for such an event, I was not shocked at all to see Daris stay static in his weight. Mike, the son from the father son team last season still looked like he kept it off. |

Mike, the son from the father son team last season still looked like he kept it off. It looked to me like Mike may have gained a few pounds but not really all that much.He looked liek he had kept most of the weight off. To be realistic, while all of the contestants generally look great at the finally, it's not likely that they can keep up the extreme diets and exercise routines that got them to that point. It's kind of like bodybuilders who get down to almost dangerously low levels of bodyfat for competition but there's no way they can stay at that level day in and day out. I think it was Bill Germanakos, who won BL a few seaons ago, who told about gaining around 20 pounds from his weight at the finals and leveling out at that point. It was a healthy weight that he could maintain with a "normal" lifestyle. I think it's all about balance and the contestants that find that balance tend to keep most of their weight off, but it looks like a lot of them really struggle with that balance following the finale. |

Master 4119 Toronto | Subject: RE: Biggest Loser 5-18 SPOILERS I agree with the above. Helen still looked good even though she's gained some - but her at 117 at the finale was pretty low and I thought it was obvious that it was unsustainable. |

Modesto, California | Subject: RE: Biggest Loser 5-18 SPOILERS Koli for sure has the drive, Daris is a stud, that young man is fit! Also Michael has come a long way from the first few episodes when everyone accused him of dragging, and he does have richard simmons stuff going on, whats with the sweat band? All three of these guys deserve to win, Ashly was along for the ride. Overall it was a good season with very little conflict as compared to past seasons, and these people got some awesome prizes this season, check out Daris giving up the ten grand for one pound that he really didnt need! |

Expert 618 | Subject: RE: Biggest Loser 5-18 SPOILERS KSH - 2010-05-20 10:39 PM dieathlon - 2010-05-19 1:35 AM I don't care what Bob and Jillian say, training for a marathon doesn't guarantee you weight loss. And as many of us here know, even training for a damn Ironman doesn't help you lose weight! I'm pulling for Daris. I think he's done great, and I think he'll go on to be a fantastic runner. Thank you! Marathon training does not equal weight loss if you are cramming your face full of food. Eating junk food, then that is correct. If you eat right, then I disagree completely. I know you have your own example, but running 70+ a week like Daris was supposedly doing is not the same as IM training. Having done both I can tell you there is a big difference. |

It certainly should for anybody on that show. Their point was that running instead of doing other workouts didn't prevent him from losing weight. If he burned as many calories running as he had been doing in his other workouts and kept his eating habits the same, he would have lost weight just like he did in previous weeks. If the run workouts didn't add up to what he had been doing in the previous weeks, he should have added additional workouts. Either he ate more, worked out less, or both. cjkelly0729 - 2010-05-20 4:04 PM While you can certainly lose weight in training, if you are not used to and conditioned to understand the calorie cravings your mind and body will inflict on you while preparing for such an event, I was not shocked at all to see Daris stay static in his weight. I know this is a bit harsh, but did you give any thought to that before you typed it? He'd been on the biggest loser for 17 WEEKS already. During that time, he ran an average deficit of over 4400 calories PER DAY. He made it clear in that middle of the night video that he wasn't eating because he was hungry, so it had nothing to do with food cravings. Bob and Jillian were absolutely right. Daris was just making an excuse. |
