i'm hovering b/w 210 and 212 nowadays, so hopefully i can't break the barrier by this summer. i'm currently training for a half-marathon in march, so that should give me a good head start towards my weight goals. good luck to everybody else!!!

So ... inspire me!

I'm planning on leaving the Athena ranks before the end of the year. I would LOVE to drop into age groups before the end of race season, but I'm not sure when that is here in IL. Like ... August or something.

I am down to 206 and dropping so, I think in the next month I will be out of the clyde ranks. It is gonna be hard to see my name at the bottom of the age group rankings, but its probably the best for my health to lose this weight.

The only thing worse than seeing your name at the bottom of the age group listing ... is not seeing it at all. Think about how many folks CAN'T do what you're doing ... age group or not. You're a rockstar!

True! That reminds me of something I saw in someone's sig here once. It was sorta like this: "Last place > DNF >> DNS"

Exactly! I think there's also a DNE for Did Not Enter!

DFL>>DNF>>DNS>>DNE

And like my friends told me when I started this ...

You know what they call the last person to cross the finish line in a triathlon?

A TRIATHLETE!

Everyone has different goals ... mine is to be able to do sustained vigorous activity for a couple of hours so that I can enjoy things like showing my dogs or going on adventure vacations with my husband. Seeing people finish in front of me doesn't hurt me a bit ... and ALWAYS have a kind word as you pass others on their way out for the run as you're finishing for there but for the grace of God go I.

I left today!

Saw 199.8 on the scale this morning. First time under 200 in about 15 years (37 years old now).

Peaked around 260 a few years back. Started Tri training in March '07 at 225.

I'll miss you Clyde Nation. Clydesdale FTW!!!

Congratulations!!!!

It is a good feeling to see a "1" as the first number on that scale for the first time in years, isn't it???

wgraves7582 - 2008-01-15 4:59 PM I have just dropped into my age group and hopefully will remain there. Too much weight for my legs to carry around. Figured it would be safer to go 185-190 rather than 205. Just went under 200 during the holidays and have a 312 mile April ride, Marathon in May and the Rhode Island 70.3 in July to help me keep under Clydesdale. Best of luck to those putting forth the effort to both do the tri's but also to drop the weight.

Great Job Bill, sounds like you will be taking it easy this summer Wink

I was ill all last week, with chronic headaches, and a full blown migraine on Thursday and Friday. I hardly ate anything, do to feeling so nauseous, yet managed to put ON 4 lbs. How does that happen, I ask you

NOTE TO SELF AND OTHERS: Leaving Chicagoland to spend 7 nights in the Caribbean on a cruise ship is NOT helpful in the pursuit of leaving the Athena Nation. Neither is coming back to 12 inches of snow. *sigh*

I'm calling a do-over!

I guess I didn't know what Athena/Clydesdale division was when I signed up in July for my first triathlon. In fact I didn't know what it was until 5 minutes ago when I started reading these threads. I am 5'11" and weighed 244 when I first started training and then 8 weeks later raced at 218. I really might have placed fairly well considering that. I am now working toward my next race in July and will definately sign up as an Athena. Who woulda thunk? I actually thought it was a division for the elite. I am now 214 and plan to be down to 180 maybe 170 depending on how I feel at that weight. 150 is not int the plans so I am a lifer here!

Just wanted to post an update to this thread. I decided to get rid of all this excess fat to look good at my wedding next year. (My fiance has decided to do the same) As of this morning, I am bordering on leaving Clyde Nation. I weighed in at 202. My first race is next week, and I do not plan on weighing in as a Clyde (even though I signed up as one).

Will be doing IMAZ in November. First IM distance for me after Lake Stevens 70.3 last year. I hope to be out of the Clydesdale category for the race. Currently anywhere from 205-208, depending on H2O.
Thirty week program starts in about 6 weeks. Let the fun begin....

I would KILL to be under 200, but I think I will always be an Athena.  If I can get down to a more reasonable weight, I'll re-evaluate what I should really weigh.

I'm hoping to be under 200 in a month, for sure two months. I'm 208 right now and I'd like to be around 190 for my competion weight this summer. I started at 350 last Aril so 200 will also be my 150lbs lost milestone.
