Pre-race routine:

Soy shake this morning. Drive to race.
Event warmup:

Ran for about 5 minutes. Chatted with BTers. I think we had a cluster of about 8 or 10 people at the start line

Comments:

I felt good today! Ran with Shannon and Drew for the first 2.5 miles until Shannon turned off for the 5 miler. Then ran the rest of the way with Drew. Drew helped me push it on the uphills even though I wanted to die. (thanks Drew!). Running on the ice and snow was a bit sketchy at times. And I swear we had a headwind for about 8 miles. The last 1.5 miles were tough for me...I was tired!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I am pretty darn pleased with my effort today
Post race
Warm down:

Chat with BT group. Get my protein shake. Go to bike store with Shannon and the Purringtons to discuss my soon to be Blue T-16 :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

HILLS. I absolutely struggle with uphills. And as Drew says, "I guess you need to run uphill more." LOL!

Event comments:

I really enjoy the Winter Distance Series. We'll see how the 20 miler goes in 5 weeks!

Good job Cathy!!!  Maybe I'll be ready to run the 20 miler w/ you next month.  If not, I'll be cheering for you!

"I guess you need to run uphill more" just cracks me up.  Every place we run in Colorado is uphill ... both ways ... in the snow and cold.  I've missed you at the last two races.  When everyone is bundled up with hats and sunglasses it's hard for me to recognize anyone.  You did great out there today.
