LOL This was actually in reply to your "upping your volume." Since I'm doing 0 now, upping it 2 or 3 times still equals 0. For the race I'll be running. Or I'll make my doctor carry me on his freaking back. But I'll be there. |

Veteran 255 Atlanta, GA | Subject: RE: St. A's Weekend BT Activities?? Hey All. I have a room reserved for Thursday thru Monday at The Hilton Carillon Drive...which is at the finish/expo area. So pretty close I am looking for 2 people to share the room with me and another friend. It of course has 2 beds, is a non-smoking room, and has all other things a normal room would. It's 199/night plus tax. Let me know if you are interested. I should also mention that after the race Sunday there will be some partying going on. Just as an FYI.. the Hilton Carillon Drive |

This is our first year at this event. Also, what are the details on this dinner? Do we need to sign up anywhere or just show up and ask for the strange guy in red shorts Hey...I'm not strange! Well...unless you don't know me! LOL Then I'm a freak. Anyway, dinner details...I'm gonna make the reservation when I see how many people are interested. Last year we had 50. You don't have to sign in, but as the date gets closer I'm gonna ask that everyone either post here, or PM me letting me know you're coming so when I do make the reservation at the beginning of April, I'll know how many to make it for. Dinner will be at Marino's. The restaurant is located at Baywalk, which is at 2nd and 2nd in Downtown St. Pete. You can get directions on Mapquest. I'm sure you can Google "Baywalk St. Pete" for specific address. Your hotel isn't far at all. Really only 3 or 4 blocks from the race site area. |

Leesburg, | Subject: RE: St. A's Weekend BT Activities?? Hello Mr. Red Trunks! I'll be there. Mister Husband will probably come, too. We have a 2d home in Leesburg. Any idea how long it will take to drive? Never been to St. Pete. Thanks for organizing this!

Master 1978 Chelmsford, Massachusetts | Subject: RE: St. A's Weekend BT Activities?? Hmmmm Leesburg. Quite a hike. It's a little over 100 miles so I'd give it about 2 hours. Coming from there on race morning might be a little much. You might want to find a hotel somewhere nearer. Even if it's not in St. Pete, as the hotels are probably filling up quick, Tampa is only about 30 minutes away...it'd make it alot easier to get to the social stuff, not just the race. |

Leesburg, | Subject: RE: St. A's Weekend BT Activities?? Yeah, I figured it was a trek. Actually live in Cleveland (ick) with a 2d home down there for a "base of operations" for the tri stuff. Booked a room at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort, 6800 Sunshine Skyway Lane in St. Pete for Fri/Sat before so I could get used to stuff. I'm a chicken. Hopefully it's not too far away. Related Q: DH has some medical issues w/ handicapped permit. Is that gonna be a problem with close-in parking for St. As for him? (I'll be there much earlier.) Think he'll be able to see anything without walking much? See you there. |

Master 1978 Chelmsford, Massachusetts | Subject: RE: St. A's Weekend BT Activities?? I can't be sure, but I think there is some HC parking pretty close to the race site, over by the North Shore Pool. You might want to contact the race organizers to see what your options are. Normally they're pretty accomodating. |

Well..I just cancelled 3 different rooms until I found the one closets to the Park. Got one pretty close on the 4th try! Soo..there should be some open a little closer than Leesburg. hehe. Thanks to Christine for letting me know my hotel was nowhere near where I thought it was! |

I know that St. As is a shorter race but do they still have the pre race swims? Or is anyone interested in putting one together? Nothing organized but we did do this last year as the buoys are usually out on Saturday morning. I'd definitely like to swim the course on Saturday. We met around noon last year and swam the course, then biked the run course. After we biked the run course, we did the bike dropoff thing. I'd be up for doing that again. I agree, swim around noonish and then bike the run course, then bike dropoff and do the expo or goof around until dinner time. |

Wife, Mother, Friend. 2457 South | Subject: RE: St. A's Weekend BT Activities?? the race site/expo is in Downtown St Petersburg, by the Pier, by the Florida International Museum (which currently has a Vatican exhibit going on), and other things. There are city parking garages and parking lots and parking meters on the street, I'm sure there are plenty of blue spots to park in. If he's in a scooter or chair, the swim start is on a beach. There's a grassy knoll. The start is also near the start of the Pier. One could go to the pier and watch the swim from there. Then the transistion/expo is on flat grass. From swim start to transistion is about a half mile or so walk, so they would go out with you to the swim start, then hopefully make it back to swim exit before you exit the water! The Meek and Mighty tri n Saturday is pretty much all on solid concrete/asphalt unless you park on grass which I don't remember.... edit: oh there are free trolleys running from and to the city garages to the site on race morning/afternoon if you get stuck parking in one and not on the street closer to the fracas.
