I'm a definite maybe for dinner.  I'm not racing, but am jockstrapping.  The paramedics and Dr. McDreamy from Ed White Hospital made me promise not to race this year!! LOL!!

We will also join for the swim.

You can count me in +1 for Dinner. We will be coming from Orlando that Saturday Morning early, so depending on what time you all were planning on doing the swim / run before bike check in, I might be able to join you all, if not dinner for sure.

q and crew,

just an FYI. I was at baywalk 2 weeks ago for a 5k race and "Marino's" is closed it is now "Club 21" or something like that. They are many other great places to eat around there. Let me know if you want a suggestion.I probably will not make dinner but would like to meet the other BTer's for a swim/bike on Saturday. This is my 1st try at a tri. Man I am so funny!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHH!!!!   This is the second year in a row they've done this to me!!!!!!   Last year when I went to make the res at DISH, I found out it was closed...and now this!!  $&%^*#(#*$*&%^*(#()~!!!!!!

Just checked and it's called GRILLE 121 now.

OK, I'll try to find another alternative.  Any other suggestions will be appreciated as well.  Back to the drawing board.  Sheesh!!  I am DEFINITELY relinquishing this post for 2009...I hate getting hit over the head like this year after year.

We may want to be careful.  If rumor gets out BT has a gathering at your resturant and by the next year you are out of business, we could have a hard time finding places.

As for suggestions, I don't remember much around that area, so sorry.

I know we have typically done this at Baywalk because of its location to the event and most hotels.  But would anyone be against doing it elsewhere if we can find somewhere not to far away???

Here are some choices that are close. Both Carraba's & Outback are 12 blocks north of Baywalk on 4th Street North plus a good local seafood place and an English Pub/restaurant . Bonefish and quite a few really good restaurant's are about 60 or so blocks north  of Baywalk (5-8 minute drive).  Let me know what kinda of restaurant you would like and I can give you a suggestion.

I'm thinking seafood the night before a race might be chancy and bonefish is kind of pricey although they have excellent food.  Carrabas is a good choice tho.  They might let us order ahead witha  large group.  At Longhorn we did that at Buca DePeppos.  We just sat down and they served us.

yes! I went to the Museum today and took notes of the restaurant names as we drove through the area.

I googled some of them.  ONE stood out!

http://www.banbugrill.com/concept_info.html

Sounds just like DISH but with an Asian theme?  It is even in the SAME location as Dish was!  Jeff, wanna give them a call and check it out?

for those of you not racing, it turns into a nightclub at 10pm...

I'm looking for hotels on hotels.com.  What is the closest landmark to Viony Park?  Is it maybe the St Pete Times forum.  Any suggestions?

NOT St. Pete times forum.  The Devil Rays stadium is not far and the pier or baywalk in St. Pete are close

NO, the ST Pete Times Forum is actually in Tampa.  It's named after the newspaper. Weird yes we know.  I think the place you're thinking of is called Tropicana Field.

The St Petersburg Pier is nearby (we swim next to it).  As well as the Florida International Museum.  Dali Museum.  and some big church I'm not sure....

I love this Banbu Grill idea.  Sounds like a plan to me!  I will give a call this week and see what they have available.

If anyone is opposed to this idea, please let me know.  We can always do Carrabba's.  But I do love this "make your own dinner" idea, it's very versatile and everyone seemed to love it when we did it at DISH.

I'll have more info this week as well as an updated list.  Thanks for the patience everyone.  We'll get this all worked out...we still have a month!
