Run
Comments: Ran hard. There was a guy who got out in front and stayed there. The 2nd and 3rd place guys were just ahead of me running together and I stayed about 50m back for sake of not wanting to use the energy to catch up to them. I've not done a 5k in a really long time and I haven't done any speed work for a while either so happy with the performance. What would you do differently?: Turn off the Max HR alarm!! Transition 1
Comments: Had a SUPER fast transition for me. Moved from 4th into 2nd in trans. Had trouble getting into my shoes once on the bike though. What would you do differently?: More practice getting into my shoes on the bike. Although I forgot to take my socks off beforehand so that would've helped. Bike
Comments: Hadn't done too much speed work here either. While I was getting my shoes on, the guy in 3rd moved into 2nd. I stayed in fairly close to him most of the time until the end of the 1st lap where he put down the hammer and him and the guy in first took off. Just kept my steady and hard pace and tried to minimize the damage. What would you do differently?: Get stronger on the bike. But I'm really focusing on longer events so wasn't too upset. Transition 2
Comments: Great! Love my new tri shoes! Had a great transition and again made up a bit of time here. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Just gave 'er here. Nothing to do but run an all out 5k. Legs felt terrible coming off the bike because I haven't done too many bricks lately. Nobody behind me for a while and didn't think I could catch the guy infront of me but still pushed just in case. Nothing too exciting happened here. What would you do differently?: Time to start doing more bricks!! Post race
Warm down: stretch, eat and drink PowerBar Recovery drink....mmmm! What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of speed training - because it's so early in the year. Event comments: Good race, nice course. But no results posted after and had to wait around for 5 hrs for awards?? No thanks. Last updated: 2008-03-02 12:00 AM

Usual PB and Honey on a bagel 2 hours before the race start.
Set up transition. Go to a million different places to get race pack and check in. Then, sat inside and watched the first few heats of the swimmers for the oly tri.
Light jogging with a few pick-ups and some light stretching. Nothing too crazy.
