I'm already thinking of doing Sacramento Cowtown Marathon in October...

I thought about that one, but decided on Humboldt Redoods marathon instead. Give it a look.

Up in the redwoods? Hmmmm. That's tempting. Have to ask Granola Girl about that.

Yeah, the redoods aren't all that great, but the redwoods are awsome!

I signed up for a cross country 10K a few years ago and when we all got to the starting line, we all looked at each other and some of us even said to each other "I've never been this close to the starting line"

There were about 30 of us at the most and most looked a lot younger than me. It was a very humid day in Montreal and I thought I might do well because I like the heat. I finished tied for 4th overall and 2nd in my age group! with a pretty slow time of 52 min....but it sure was fun to get up on the podium! A once in a lifetime achievement most likely.

I signed up for a 'Share Your Soles' 10k run, because it was just around the corner from where I live. Few hundred participants and such a fun, but disorganized race, that many people missed the turning point during this out and back run. I was one of them.  Imagine the surprise when they called my name to get the bronze in my AG! And it took me over an hour to do it! I seriously wondered if it was ethical to accept it, but then I thought, that it may never happen again and went to receive it. Mixed feelings.

It doesn't really count as a podium, but I finished 5th in my age group at a pretty decently sized 5K this weekend! I'm so stoked!!

I did a Great Lake swim in Harbor Springs, MI a few years ago where there were options of 1, 2, or 3 miles with age groups in each.  I opted for the 2 mile and was surprised to see myself on the leaderboard.  I had managed to finish first and only in my AG!  Whoopee!  With all of the medals for men and women in the three races, it turned out that only 9 people in the whole shebang did NOT make the podium.  Sucked to be them.

The only podium finish I ever had was 3rd place for my age group in a half marathon.  I was so tired and aching that it did not matter to me in the least.

That rocks Scott!  You are the man!

Getting even a rinky-dink little medal with "3rd place" on it is a pretty special feeling.  I've gotten some small $2 medals for placing in my AG and they are sometimes even better than a finishers medal from a bigger race!

Congrats!!!

2nd place in Cat 5 B of a bike time trial. It was a multi day event and I didn't know that I placed until the second day. I waited around 4 hours for that medal and I was some kinda proud of myself. In almost 7 years of racing (100 plus races), I have 5 placing, it doesn't happen often but it sure feels good.
