Course: HA!! We were hit immediately with a lot of freezing rain once we started. Ran through RMC for 1k, which was flat and not yet too slippery. Then had to do Fort Henry Hill, which is about 10% grade and is about 800m long. It was starting to get really icy, so we ran at the side of the road. We continued through the hilly Base housing area, on the side of the road, on people's lawns, on the occasional stripe of road dirt, wherever we wouldn't fall down, really. I couldn't tell you where exactly we ran, I just followed the others and tried not to fall on my a$$. After the turn around, it only got icier, so we really had to slow down. We had to go DOWN Fort Henry hill, so I gave up and ran in the field beside the road. You couldn't even run safely in the gravel at the side of the road at that point. Then the rest of the run was flat and icy at least. For the final sprint, I ran on the grass beside the sidewalk!!! Applause, please!! :) :) Somehow, the fastest runner's time was 26 minutes! Still was a slow time for him, apparently!!

Wow Jen, that is hilarious (well it is for me since I'm only reading it and didn't have to run it!!) - the kind of experience is enjoyed more in retrospect than reality I bet!

GREAT JOB!!!! Ice, hills, ice pellets... and you still did it- way to go girl!

Great Job!! Now you have done your first run/skate 8K. You are a brave soul to start and keep at it. Reminds me of growing up in MN and walking on the ice...I used to love to do it...but I wasn't running.

You go girl!! We knew your Torque was going to come in handy. Didn't you get that at one of your late Fall races?

Great run, Jen. That ice can be a little tricky and a lot disheartening. You did great sticking it out!
Congratulations.

Great work! I have no idea how you run in the snow. I was in Vernon for Christmas and planned to run the 3 days I was there but its tough and dangerous to run in snow so I only ran once. :-( I'm proud of you - great work. I'm so happy I live in Victoria - rain is much better than ice and snow in my books!
