Pre-race routine:

Late start, so got up at 6:30 and putzed for an hour and a half around the campsite. Ate 1/2 a muffin and a few strawberries.
Event warmup:

Ran about 1/2 mile at an EZ pace. Kept moving after that until wetsuit time. We only had 3-4 minutes after the last wave to get in the water to warmup.

I'm really happy with this run. There was noone going as fast as me on the downhills. I probably passes 30-40 people going down Lynch Hill.
What would you do differently?:

Take a little more fluids.
Post race
Warm down:

Friend Craig was waiting at finish line for me. Walked around with the family until cool. Split with them and went for a dip in the lake.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swim

Event comments:

I now see why so many people do Wildflower every year. I really is a don't miss event. I'll be back next year, probably long course.

Exellent Race! Nice job on the downhill segments of the run - those are really hard for me to control; you mention the swim as a limiter to finishing faster, but if memory serves me, 01:42/100 is your fastest pace yet. Is that right? Looks like you've been doing a lot of swimming and your form must be really efficient to make that much improvement. Also looks like you were at a great weight for the race; everything I read about the bike segment is about maximizing the power to weight ratio, and the easiest way to improve that is to drop unnecessary pounds from the rider's frame. Great job. Hope your family had a good time too. Sounds like a blast.
