Don't really want a debate on Hallmark holidays, but if you hadn't remembered or realized--- Mother's Day is Sunday.

Yay for moms!

Best gift my wife got was our last son - 3 years ago on Sun. May 8, 2005!  She couldn't have been any happier (we love all 3 sons, but was thinking that our last would have been a girl - she needs a female in the house, I think).

My five year old came to me the other day with two dollars and said, "look Mom, I have enough money to buy you a birthday present for Mother's Day."  How cute is that?  I took him to the store (hubby is out to sea.  Go Navy) and he bought me an Ironman Timex.  Don't I wish two dollars stretched that far?  He is such a nice boy...sometimes!

Yea...sent the card to my mom already.  Talked to my sons about doing something since I'll be heading out of town on a business trip Saturday morning.

Why are you worried. She is not your mother. I never understood the whole buy your wife something, unless you are buying it for kids that are too young to buy or make something.

1. I do have kids who are too young to buy something, so that is part of the question (which was only asked to be humorous), and

2. No, she is not my mother. I do feel strongly about recognizing her amazing abilities as a mother, which is the reason most men buy their wives, who are also mothers, a gift on Mother's Day (I hope).

And it's likely from YOUR "contribution" that your wife became a mother.  So since you helped make her a mother, and presumably appreciated her mothering your children, show her some appreciation -- sure you don't need to "buy your wife something" as much as plan/do something in appreciation.  Picnic lunch.  Sleep in.  Quiet house.  Is it so hard to show a little love?

I couldn't agree more! I was attracted to my wife for many reasons....fell in love and married her. Since having children and seeing what a great mom she has become it has really brought everything to another level. I don't always tell her how much I admire her parenting. And the kids...well...kids are kids. But we sure will make Mother's Day special for her!

Believe me I show it every day (well, almost every day). I just am not a big fan of "holidays" such as mothers day, fathers day, valentine day, etc. Because someone years ago said the 2nd Sunday in May is mothers day means you have to go out and buy a gift. Sorry, I don't buy it!
