Crystal River Triathlon Series
80F / 27C
Overcast
Total Time = 1h 30m 40s
Overall Rank = 169/244
Age Group = Athena
Age Group Rank = 3/6
Pre-race routine:

Up at 315, drove up to Crystal River with Sue. Drank a diet pepsi
Event warmup:

Set up transition, drank a spiz (125 calorie)
Swim
  • 06m 21s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 26s / 100 yards
Comments:

Course was a bit long, but this was an AWESOME swim for me! I tucked in behind the big guys and stayed on feet until I hit the sand!

I am shocked as sh*t at this time!
What would you do differently?:

Absolutely Nothing!!!
Transition 1
  • 03m 11s
Comments:

IDK what took so long.
Bike
  • 46m
  • 15 miles
  • 19.57 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt good on the bike. Had a tailwind for some of the out, and a big ol headwind all the way back. Tried to keep cadence high, but there was a few times I just hammered it out.
Transition 2
  • 01m 47s
Comments:

I got a blister from the sand and bike shoes, so getting into socks and running shoes hurt a bit. I tried to brush off the sand, but it was wet and stuck. Figured it was only 3 miles, I'd be fine!
Run
  • 33m 21s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

The right foot (??stress fracture) didn't hurt at all, but my entire left leg was freaking killing me. Maybe from the compensation last weekend, maybe from the pitch of the road, IDK, but it hurt like a mofo. I tried to keep my pace slow, but steady. That lasted about 1/2 mile, then I did a 1:1.
Post race
Warm down:

Got some water, gatorade. Talked to Tonya, Jeff, Sue and Matt, waited for awards.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Running a 1/2 ironman last weekend, my fat tail, lack of training the last 3 weeks, poor nutrition. Pick one, anyone!! LOL!!

Event comments:

This was a PR by 14 seconds, good enough for 3rd Athena. It was the eye opener I needed to get my nutrition and training plan back underway! I need to be faster on the bike and run to be competitive, and I want to take back my first place!!

Hardware is sweet!

You did do a 70.3 last weekend so be kind to yourself. Nice fast swim split...rocking bike and you got it done running thru great discomfort.

Congrats on the PB

Awesome job Wendi.  How come you didn't save me any of the brownies you baked in T1?  WTF took so long?   Nice job on the PR.
