RunningJayhawk - 2008-07-20 7:16 PM Great job out there today, everyone!! We came through in heat, sun, fog delays, injuries, crashes, and puking (okay...hopefully it was just me on the puking bit). We really are rockstars!! And of course, yay for no rain!! And a massive high five to whoever wrote "GO BT!!" before the water stop around Mile 45. I was pretty much hating life and that was a brilliant pick me up! I feel like I'm going to go into hibernation for a bit!

and flats

I feel bad for ya - 2 in less than 5 miles.  WTF??

Yet, you had this smile afterwards!  What a trooper!

Forgot to add - if that was your hubby, he was funny.  And those 3 wee ones were cool!

ajotto - 2008-07-17 2:39 PM You can log the "4th leg" on BT as "wrestling"

Isn't the "4th leg" now categorized as bike pickup?

It was great to meet a handful of you in transition!

Susie--I'm sorry I missed your call! I had left my phone in the car, but my friend eventually went back up to grab it for me.

From the Journal Times (Racine Paper)
http://www.journaltimes.com/articles/2008/07/20/local_sports/doc488...

The top female finisher was Kelly Handel of Austin, Texas. But because of complications in compiling results, Handel’s official time was not available as of Sunday night.

Hmmm...this may take a little bit.

I'm starting to get partial results. Strangely enough, the page won't show in firefox, but it will in explorer.

Anyone else feel like the swim was short? I thought the buoys were in a lot closer than last year (I assumed because of the fog) but the start and finish seemed to be in the same spot. I PR'd the swim by 6 minutes but felt like I was struggling with the cold the whole time.

Considering the day from hell that I had...I am beyond thrilled that I pulled a 7:59:47. When I began puking on the bike, I didn't even think I was going to finish. And then when I couldn't keep anything down on the run, I pretty much surrendered to an 8:15. Actually...in my mind, I figured I would always an 8:00+ finisher. Glad to see I exceeded my expectations by 13 seconds.

The folks at Slowtwitch are saying around 100-200m short but we had a huge current....

My HIM swim times have been 29:XX and 34:XX and I went 27:X yesterday...so yeah short.

FYI, the bouys were in closer because the water temp the normal 200 meters out was way colder and completely unsafe for swimming.  They'd done the same thing for the sprint the day before.

I know that I could not have pulled off a sub 40 min. 1.2 mile swim in regulation conditions.  BUT, I'll take it and claim a small victory!

I knew that they didn't account for extending the length of the swim to accommodate the width distance that they pulled in.

Alright, so the times are posted I'm quite confused.  My brand new Polar HRM has me at 5:52:28.  A time that my wife was monitoring throughout the day and seemed to agree with.  The official time has me at 6:00:26!  All the splits are off.  Official says 34:47 on the swim.  Last year on a longer course I think I was 35 or 36 and my HRM says 29:38.  A friend of mine who I am a better swimmer than he is was in the wave right before me and his swim was 31:53.  If he started out 3 minutes before me and yet my wife said I was right after him into tranisiton.

T1 the official for me is 7:27.  My watch has 2:53!  My watch is not that much off.  My transition spot was right at the exit to start the bike.  I was to me spot after the swim and moved pretty well and got out.  No way was my T1 7:27!

When I checked my bike in and got my timing chip my number, 1809, was not there.  Somebody else has to have gotten my timing chip.  They gave me another one and the guy wrote a note down on a piece of paper but I have to think that I have been given the times of whoever accidentally got my 1809 chip.  Thing is that the official report shows that I took 2nd in my Clyde 40+ 225+ AG and that's with a time I think is 8 minutes slower than I think I actually was.

The other thing that backs this up is that when I crossed the finish, I am 90% certain the clock said 6:15:xx or somewhere in that ballbark.  I was in the 9th wave which started 24 minutes after the first was went.  6:15:xx less 24 minutes = 5:51:xx.  Pretty much right on with what my HRM time says.  Arrrgggghhhh!  Better than last year though.  They never even posted a time for me last year.  It's like last year I wasn't even there although I've got the mental wounds to prove I was.
